The tax cuts were passed in 2017, and the T domestic headcount was 254K.
The TW takeover was complete in 2018, adding about 26K to the headcount. So, 254+26 should be 280K. But at the end of 2018 the T total domestic headcount was 268K – 12K less than it should have been with the TW addition.
Headcount for T in 2019 was 247K, and 2020 was 230K. And for fun, in 2016 it was also 268.
So, there is your proof. Even with the 2017 tax cut T continued to cut up to 10K jobs per year.
