Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

People are Honeywell's greatest asset

Honeywell has the same bull$h1t mentality that people should just be happy to be employed. That attitude is the root cause of what is systemically wrong with the culture at Honeywell. People are a company's greatest asset, not it's greatest liability. Until the greedy fools that run Honeywell realize it, they will always be in last place with customers and industry.

Exactly this. It has been proven again and again that companies thrive when their employees are happy and satisfied with their jobs. Considering how we are treated here, is it any wonder then that Honeywell is doing so badly lately?

I left Honeywell a little over 2 years ago after 15 years with the company. I am making 50% more then when I left. Ido not think I would have ever made this much of i had stayed. My manager appreciates the work I do instead constantly putting me down like they did at Honeywell. Stay safe stay strong 💪.

Sadly, those who display too much independence or "incorrect thinking" are often flagged for removal, regardless of their competence or level of contribution. The bobblehead and the stooge are often the model employees in today's corporate world.

Every year: some cut in benefits
Every 2 years: Re-org with RIFs, site closures
Every 3 years: Merit cancellations, furloughs (sometimes 2 years in a row)

Been the practice since 2006 or so when Honeywell shifted from innovation to cost-cutting.

This is what everyone needs to understand:
Honeywell is being harvested for profits with extremely limited investment in specific areas. It's not personal, but rather the business strategy. Nothing you do or say will change that, and you should not expect Honeywell leadership to "listen." They are actually not incompetent. They set the strategy to harvest knowing that it will result in the slow death of the company, exactly like GE. As long as they cash out before the collapse, they'll have accomplished their goals.

It's completely up to you to decide whether to leave or go down with the ship.

@roa agree. These are called golden handcuffs and Honeywell, more than any company I’ve worked for in the defense space, uses them to entice people to stay because they know if given the choice many wouldn’t stay beyond a year.

I stayed for 2.5 years and that was two years too long as I realized the abusive culture, lack of training or career development and unpaid OT weren’t worth it. I knew, despite being a strong performer, that I had no future with Honeywell.

What did I get when I announced my departure? Leadership publicly undermining my decision and implying that I was making a mistake. All lies btw, I got out and couldn’t be happier. My new manager cares about me and wants me to be successful and the new company values employees and shows it through the benefits offered. Honeywell doesn’t compare!

Folks....this is a good way to vent, but ultimately the best course of action with this company is to leave, the grass really is greener. Make no mistake, HW leadership follow this site, the likes of Karen Arlak are always looking to see what is leaking from GSI, even Mark James has engaged based on what is said here. Nothing will change at HW because leaders are self serving and making a lot of money nodding their heads yes to the likes of Mike Madsen and Darius. The big fear word in the leadership ranks “union”......say union here and leadership will tune in. Get out, this place does not take care of its people, no marketing campaign can convince people otherwise......actions speak louder than words and this company is spiraling and will ultimately be sold once everything is consolidated into a few hubs and can be packaged to a few buyers. It’s already shaping up based on the many closures.

Great post! I recently left Honeywell and it’s amazing to see how much Honeywell just ignored the very basics of workplace psychology. Happy people are more likely to be productive and want to say.

As far as people just saying to leave if you aren’t happy, it’s not always that easy. Honeywell structures so many things like pay, relo agreements, bonuses, and 401k match so you would be losing or leaving money on the table that you have worked for if you left. Another reason that Honeywell employees aren’t happy.

Exactly. The employees are starting to realize that we are just one big ATM machine to keep the stock price Ponzi scheme going. The game is almost over as they run out of benefits to take, people to RIF and scams to run. The clock is ticking and we will finally get to see the demise of HON AERO. It's been a good run, but greed and stupidity have won the war.

The point of complaining is to inform others thinking of joining the company. It seems too many employees feel underappreciated.

Question is, what are you going to do about it besides complain? You have two options. Accept it or work somewhere else that you believe has better morale. I fail to see the point in complaining when employment is optional.
