Don’t get me wrong. I have worked for several unethical managers. Those who will do whatever they need to do, to make their numbers look good. But HR is fair, honest, and ethical.
Nearly a decade ago AT&T began to organize and communicate the 2020 Business Plan. That was HR telling me, and you, what we need to do to keep up our skills to continue employment with the company. My decision was like a majority of employees. Continue to contribute my best each and every day and , go with the flow.
As each department had a surplus of employees, it was more like a game of musical chairs. One day an announcement was issued, the music stopped, and I was asked to leave the company. That was in 1Q2019 and I was ready. Why? Because HR did their job and gave me a decade (10 years) to prepare for this day. All I can say is, “Thank you, HR.” AT&T was a great career!
There is life beyond AT&T.
