Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

A dying industry

We are dinosaur in a dying industries. Our sales will continue to decline and we will be in cycle of cost cuts.

The good talent will leave as other industries recover faster. Just buckle up for 12 months and ride it out. Once over, pack up and leave.

I am an aerospace veteran, having started as an intern. I have seen so much change in the last few months. We have regressed a decade!

Everyone is just working for the fear of losing their job or enough to just keep it. I would not be surprised if more than half the aerospace team is hunting for their next gig.

If they don't adapt and change, they will certainly die. Honeywell Aerospace technical leadership has no clue how to develop or innovate at competition speed. They are mostly Honeywell grown engineers, used to design at cost-plus speed. Their naive attempt to reshape an antiquated process designed for cost plus programs, is a clear indication that they don't have a clue. Most of the leadership needs to be replaced with engineers from the commercial aerospace industry. That will never happen, they will most likely die........

Not dying. APUs are critically important. Avionics and controls are important. Even if Honeywell dumps them, they will live in. But I'm not sure if Honeywell has the technology or supply lines to compete in propulsion anymore. The best thing may be to sell off propulsion to a foreign company that is willing to put the money in to compete.

' I believe all or most Aerospace except avionics will be sold off'. On the contrary, the avionics business will be the first business to be sold. This particular business is the worst performing GBE where even the GBE President made a hasty retreat last year knowing that the customers weren't buying the c-ap that Honeywell makes. Overpriced with little technology on offer makes it a clear business on the downer.

The writing is on the wall - Honeywell’s only interest is in profit and if it takes 1 employee or if the board could do it by themselves that’s just fine. I believe all or most Aerospace except avionics will be sold off. They will outsource all admin and then assembly. HW sold their soul years ago.

Certainly aerospace is about to be disrupted as will the entire transportation industry. Distrust of crowded mass transit will only hasten the move toward new things. Can’t guess how energy efficiency and personal travel space will combine but someone will offer it.

I don’t believe you are in a dying industry. I do believe we are on the cusp of significant changes in flight vehicles and flight travel.

Dismantling the Honeywell Aerospace business unit started in the early to mid 1990’s. This has been and continues to be intentional. I have been able to fully understand. I do believe the basis for this path is money.

I'm already planning my exit. I've had enough of aerospace and especially all of Honeywell's b—s—.
