Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

PIP is designed to be vague or extreme on purpose

Once you're on it, you already know how it ends. I really hope no one is fooling themselves into thinking they can fight it.

If you don't sign the pip it is considered insubordination and you can be fired. I want through a pip and was told halfway through i was failing it. The supervisor pressured me to leave and take the remaining pil. I contacted hr and told them I was being pushed out. After that the pressure stopped. Hr told me that my fate would be decided by the pip, hr would have a say and employee services would as well. HR told me not to worry and just complete my pip tasks. In the end I failed the pip and was let go by the supervisor. In black and white they said I had failed to improve enough. Some unfinished documentation was cited.

Yes you have to sign the pip documents. You can add comments but the reasons are all there in black and white. That is the reason they document everything. HR is a joke and is in on the whole thing. They will not help you. Only if some illegal harassment by the supervisor can save you. I am not talking about bad treatment or rudeness. It has to be discrimination or retaliation based. I know one pip that the supervisor was extremely critical and unprofessional to the pipee. The pipee went to HR thinking they were saved but in the end HR sided with the company.

@wj What type of dr-gs are you on. HR just follows management’s orders. Even if you do everything they ask in the PIP document and they still fail you, HR will follow whatever management says. They tell you go to HR, because they know HR tells you what they want you to hear

So I learned you can go through dispute resolution and have the PIP reversed.
I would recommend you contact the HR center. They'll walk you through the process.

@ak Always. We had two teammates on PIP. One was having biweekly chit‑chats, and my manager tried so hard so no one would know her situation. On the other hand, he told everyone that the other person was on PIP. Very different treatment from the beginning — so much work for one and nothing for the other — and the results were obvious to everyone.

These days it is best to keep your finances in order and resume and skills up to date. Network and always look for other opportunities, in case you have to jump ship.

Yes the outcome is predetermined. I was sc--wed from the beginning. They isolated me, did not help or train me correctly and ridiculed my work. My stupivisor actually laughed at my weekly check in. The stupivisor kept asking me to quit and take the pil. I refused and then failed the pip. It was very hostile treatment from everyone. I knew I was sc--wed even though I was supposedly nre. I could not believe they piped me out one year shy of retirement. Thoose evil b a stards and bi a tches. I truly hate exxon for the awful treatment. I was simply chosen and pick out because I was a newbie to the group.

@af The outcome is already known to management. So if they want you to pass you pass

Fight it, no.

Pass it, maybe: all depends on whether or not your manager/supervisor want you to pass.
