Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Save yourself and leave Centene

I posted over a year ago how I had been RIF'd from CNC, had found a new job, and was promoted within 4 months of being there. I also pointed out how unprofessional and poorly the management was in my year there, and how they handled the lay-off (Dec. 2023).

The leadership in this thread were PI---D.

This post is for those emotionally struggling and worried about your job with Centene. Move forward with another company, consider a whole new area in the workforce, take a pay cut if you have to or can, and grow elsewhere.

Life is so much better outside of that place! I took a job I had to take to pay bills, but it was a blessing! 1.5 years later and Ive earned my CNC salary back! Better benefits and stock options!

@OP

Yes, there is life after CNC, and it's much calmer and settled.

@y0+1kjjfpjrs and you're exactly what I hoped would come back and show others here exactly what I mean.

At the end of the day, there are people who have skills before and after Centene that are marketable and profitable to other companies. Thats like getting pissy because someone left for another job and got a raise.

Second, Centene is rooted in promoting and retaining people just because they know the manager or like them. WITHOUT KNOWING ANY PARTS OF THE JOB. So, GTFOH

Trust me, you and I both are happy that I got RIF'd !!!!! I LOVE that Centene is the outlier and not the norm on my resume. And like I said....1.5 years later at another company AND STILL GOING like I always was until Centene.

@yg I’m not @ye that’s someone else. I don’t wish the same for you. I don’t hope that you lose everything. Perhaps my first reply was a bit rough around the edges. I just hope you find your way out of a very toxic mindset that if you’re not promoting fast you’re a failure. This is why I despise platforms like LinkedIn where you log in and see your feed and it’s just promotions here there everywhere. There’s also a lot of people on your connections list not posting and just working and doing their thing. They’ll promote when they’re ready and not rushing to the opportunity. Some also promote and don’t share it. I’ve seen title chasing ruin people and land them in a role they are not prepared for. It runs them off or they fail to master the role and it all comes to light when it is revealed they had to have other people help them way more than what they should be helped in their role. Sometimes the wrong people get the promotion. It happens. If you were qualified to get your promotion in 4 months and you’re doing good at it then that is awesome for you. Perhaps Centene was not the right fit for you. But for some of us, we are happy here. I would not leave a company I was content working at just to get promotions faster. I can comfortably do life with what I make here and I don’t care what my title is. I’m not a leader. Just an every day contributor.

I hope you don’t lose everything. I hope you’ve found the right fit for you and that you’re happy. We all deserve to be happy and be where we can be our best selves. Sorry it did not work out for you here.

Being promoted within 4 months is a sign of a bad organization. No one learns the ropes and systems and the ins and outs of a new company in 4 months. But hey if that “I’m climbing fast” mentality makes you feel good… don’t be surprised when you find yourself in a role you aren’t prepared for. It’s okay, all the upvotes on LinkedIn will make ya feel good.

Gtfo of here. I can clearly see why you were part of a RIF with that mentality
