Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Hey ex-TIAA employees now at Accenture "Layoffs"

Accenture CEO Julie Sweet told analysts that the company is “exiting people on a compressed timeline where reskilling is not a viable path for the skills we need.” She further added that the company will quickly align its workforce with client demand for AI-driven solutions. This means that Accenture may will have let go off some more employees who cannot be retained at that time. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/tech-news/accenture-fired-11000-employees-ceo-julie-sweet-warns-exit-or-/amp_articleshow/124160673.cms

@1j8 agreed no guarantees in life except death and taxes.

Thing is the vast majority of folks who went to Accenture if laid off before 2 years would get a full year severance pay package. Unless if Accenture tries to go and say they didn’t perform up to minimal expectations or something and has that or other “loopholes” to avoid paying the severance package out.

@rf can anyone "guarantee" employment? No not with business change. I think the agreement was within two years to get TIAA severance if laid off in that time

They'll do the same what they always do, keep talented people and transfer the jobs to cheaper labor when they can. The talented people move within Accenture to different departments/jobs and people left behind will be fired.

@xe my assumption then is that Accenture will be cutting many of them because they don't have the AI ready skills needed.

Former TIAA employees at Accenture do not have a contract. They have a guarantee that Accenture will pay them TIAA severance if they are laid off before two years.

@nz Betcha your bottom dollar Accenture will start to layoff many of those former TIAA employees once the contract period is up. Then, those folks can go work for the local garbage collector as that is how Accenture will assess their new AI skills.

@k6 yeah apparently OP didn’t get the memo or didn’t read it.

Most TIAA -Accenture folks are locked in for 2 years though some may be 1 year which is coming up soon (December and February).

If they let anyone go that wasn’t performance based the SD would have a Bantha (Star Wars equivalent of cow).

The individuals who moved to Accenture from TIAA are under contract therefore are not included in the "layoff group,". I think the layoff is happening to permanent Accenture employees.

@OP How many employees do you think this potentially represents from the former employees who were absorbed by Accenture ? I believe it would close to 50%. Her comments are code words not for AI but for saving Accenture and TIAA money. Accenture is looking to cut costs and wants to off load, off shore as many former TIAA employees as possible. That is why the build out in Frisco, on a separate and side note, makes little financial sense.
