Global Internal Recruiting Policy

Specifically section 4.6.
I'll wait.

For example. If you accept a new position in January of 2026, you will not receive any grade level change, title change of compensation change until March 2027.

@sm it has not always been this way. If you interview for a position internally after year end is locked, you will not get a title change or comp change until the next year end cycle.

Can confirm also as a manager in the UK this is true. Had a team member applying for a higher grade job elsewhere who I have for promotion. My director confirms if she goes elsewhere, her bonus and promotion will be gone so she prob won't leave, as it would mean a higher grade/harder job and less money than staying. It was a big issue last year, where people were unhappy following pay review just applied and left for a higher grade job elsewhere.

@sm Not true. Until recently, you would get the raise at mid-year or the next quarter.

@qk Hierarchy for year end was locked on Sept 30. If you accept a new role now - or even if you did on Oct. 1 - you old manager sets your comp.

It's always been that way since BNY and Mellon merged. Also, people who move to a new position usually have to continue to work at least partially in their old position and the new position, simultaneously, for a while. I never could understand it.

I don't really understand this policy.. Isn't it EOY now? If someone accepted the offer now, why couldn't they receive the grade level change and title change of compensation?

I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, and I still don’t. An external hire would get the correct title and pay grade, so this policy makes absolutely no sense. There are better ways to discourage internal moves.

@kq they need to ask the recruiter, but from what I know, they will not get a change in pay or title until 3/27

Has this policy already started? If you are currently interviewing for an internal role, does this already apply? (I have a team member who applied for internal role and if offered, may start before EOY).

Yep, it's correct. The new internal mobility policy is if you move roles, you may only get a new salary/title at EOY.

This place gets more disgusting. But dont worry all the outsiders coming in start out at the correct amount. Actually much higher than existing staff but thats ok
