Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

What are good and healthy coping strategies to stay positive at work??

It’s hard to stay positive these days at Visa. This place is such a downer, but we’ee lucky enough to be employed for now. What are healthy coping strategies that have worked for you?

@w5 It depends. If you "click" with the hiring manager lots of Miracles happen. Also ageism is pronounced if you let it interfere in your mind, but like everything else remain Positive and Energetic. Take walks, exercise, practice hygiene, love yourself so you can help others. Employers and people in general love hanging out with positive, energetic people who can share a lot of life long experience. Avoid the negative/pessimistic ones

If you work in one of the technology organiations at Visa and your skills and experience do not match what the outside world expects given your job title, you are going to be in for a harsh awakening in event of a layoff. Good luck!

Say no to "going above and beyond".

@b6 Great advice. I already know what I will do on Day 1 of 60 and when that time is up.

My addition to the list is to just do the work in front of you and treat this place as a 9-5. Do what you can and no more. Say no to "going above and beyond".

Focus on your personal life and goals outside of work. There are organizations (your local city, a non-profit, maybe even your child's PTA) that would love to utilize your skills. Be active in your community. Serve others. Update your resume. Don't let Visa drag you down.

I stay positive by staying open for change. Always keep your resume out for something better, and jump when opportunity knocks.

This entire conversation appears to be a brilliant concept from the Ryan & Kelly delusion show, titled “How to be inspired in the face of despair.”

I do self-challenges. I consider how unproductive I was during the last work day, and try to be even more so in the current day.

No matter if I succeed or I fail, I've wasted a staggering amount of time and that warms my heart.

Start fantasizing about all of the fun things you can do during an impromptu extended holiday. Then layoff day will be something to look forward to.

I spend time preparing for interviews. Alleviates the anxiety of facing a sudden layoff.
