Layoff Volunteer

Is it possible to have all unvested RSU released if I volunteer to retire? I have about 700 left and would leave if I could get these released early. Does anyone have experience with this?

I am only speculating but I would think they would offer a minimum of RSU in the destination that you would be abandoning.....does this seem logical?

Would the destination company HR request your RSU balance to pay off as cash during an offer or would they just give a certain amount of cash based on your feedback of how much unvested RSU you have?

Very true. Any place worth going will try to include unvested RSU either with cash or RSU in the destination company. Be patient and thoughtful about your career decision as hastily made decisions are never rewarding.

I wouldn’t worry about unvested RSU. I was just asked how much unvested I have as the new company is preparing my offer.

ummm .... the whole point of RSU is for retainment of employee. not a lump sum handout with goodbye handshake.

Typically on a layoff or severance offer, a company will add a year or more to the employee's time worked as it pertains to vesting timelines. It could vary based on years worked and/or position/title. I doubt it would be open ended to allow extended vestments beyond a few years.

Great question. Is this possible? I have 10k RSU and would take this and depart.
