Thread regarding 3M layoffs

My boss is getting replaced

It hasn't been announced yet, but the writing is on the wall.

I'm not sad to see him go; he's a terrible leader and generally incompetent, but now we're likely to report to his self-serving lackey.

Out of the frying pan, into a similar frying pan.

3M has eviscerated the talent pipeline, so everyone in management are the leftover dregs who couldn't find a new role at a better company.

I thought they were selling off the better brands in CBG? We still manufacture basic product and we stop trying to invent new sponges and hooks for $7-15 a pop?

Just wait for the restructuring coming and boss changes in CBG in the coming weeks planned. Hard to stick around in this dumpster fire

Most of the bosses I see are yes mens. I worked in IT. Since leaders are mostly from certain demography I thought they like to appoint yes mens as their immediate reports. Easy to control and easy to fire people under them.

Like OP said, leadership at 3M is comprised of people who couldn't find better jobs.

Everyone who could get off of this sinking ship already has.

Peons are stuck because the job market su-ks. Leaders are stuck because why would you hire the captain of the Titanic?

Normally a person outlasted a bad boss by just keeping nose to grindstone and a better boss came along. Now it seems they are all bad likely thanks to ignorant hiring.

@OP unfortunately starting some 25 years ago with Mcnerney, the "prototype" leader at 3M changed from the McKnight principled person to a passive aggressive GE headbanger.

Michael Vale was the posterchild of this flawed "visionary" leader.

Your boss is finding out that the sword is double edged. When employees are traumatized and, as a result, underproductive - eventually the leader is called out when the team didnt deliver BBs outrageous targets.

Buckle up for more madness coming to a 3M sanatorium near you.
