If they started offering Cafeteria Benefits allowing people to pay for selected coverage and not for coverage they will never/no longer need such as OB, Peds, or opt out of other coverage options to include BH, SNF, etc they might actually be seen as a decent provider other than a greed machine. Healthy and younger people may not need any of this coverage and could add it much later in life. Along with stop forcing house staff to buy the Cadillac plan of the year vs basic coverage. I for one don't need a variety of coverage, and I damn sure am not interested in their "high touch" BS offerings.

@ty Because they don’t care and don’t want the added expense. They are looking for every way possible to sc--w us over. They really want us to donate yo the PAC so they can pay lobbyists bucks to come up with more ways to bribe the government to relax rules so they can have less workers and have even more offshore roles.
Why doesn’t Elevance Health provide retirement health benefits to its retirees? Other employers offer this.
This is how healthcare worked prior to the Affordable Care Act. That legislation dictates coverage requirements and eliminated cafeteria-style health benefit offerings.
@hx the other poster made a good point, why can't we choose basic plan coverage at a cheaper rate instead of having the newest "high touch" plan shoved down our throat to increase their profit.
The affordable care act mandates certain coverage, like maternity and BH. This eliminated catastrophic type plans so healthy young people who would be good with just coverage if they got cancer or hit by a bus - but were willing to pay out of pocket for a doctor visit plans can’t get them.
this is a slippery slope. Just think about women vs men. Women would need additional coverage that men would not. This is just one example of where monetary discrimination could come into play. I can also see this hiking prices of fully insured as healthier people opt out and go with minimal coverage plans.
It's all fine to choose the al la cart insurance until something happens that you did not plan for. How can you say you would not need BH or SNF when signing up for coverage? There are certain things that you just never know may happen. What they could do is offer old style indemnity plans for those that want minimal coverage.
Interesting concept to allow people to have the benefit plan that fits their needs
