Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

CAP

Doing CAPs to manage people out and avoid paying severance has been happening a lot for at least a couple of years.

We are hearing about it more because it works and they are doing it more. The company saves money by pushing out long-term, expensive employees, especially those seen as too vocal, ethical, or outside the in-crowd.

Expect more of this. Most people do not have the money, time, or stability to fight it legally, and many assume it cannot happen to them until it does.

Not sure, but please tell your coworkers about this site. There are people actively trolling this site to make it seem like layoffs are not happening. We need to continue to speak up and keep people informed.

@tc Do not use UHGs EAP. They have bought many groups include therapy companies and can see anything you tell the EAP Team. These therapists are their employees!

Get therapy outside! Research to see who owns that group first. This is important! Hopefully one day, the monopoly that is UHG will be dismantled legally.

This company is everything people say they are, and worse! If you do file a legal complaint or a lawsuit etc, they will try to pay your attorney off or try to turn your attorney against you by miraculously producing their “forced arbitration” document that most employees, especially those that have worked for them for a long time, don’t know about. They did this to my friend in 2021 and that’s when I knew how low they can go. He almost lost his apartment, was severely traumatized and moved far away.

When dealing with them, not only should you retain legal counsel regardless of how small or large the issue is, but pray to God/Allah or whomever you believe in. They are not stronger than God. Their day will come. They knowingly and vehemently choose harm every single time and it’s sad.

My advice. As soon as you are put on CAP start your own case with HR so you have that documented at least with them even if they are always on the company side at least you have that case opened and a case #. Also use your EAP for documentation of the stress they are causing. Horrible company that does not care about their employees.

I document any time I am told even the tiniest little flaw or error. I document the time, what was said and how it was said. If there is emails or teams messages, I screenshot them and keep a log. That way when they try to say XYZ I will bring it all out. Try it :-)
