Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Union Members Listenup...

With the upcoming renegotiation and the company in a complete mess, now is our time. We need to use this moment to mobilize with full force. Strike if we have to. We have real leverage. Let's use it.

@hw it would be impossible NOT to know if someone crossed lol, what on earth are you even talking about. A. Attendance is taken at strike duty B. Union dues do not get taken out if you aren’t getting paid…guess when it does? C. Without either of those two things the word will still get out

Union better take what they can get or even give back or it’s a permanent lockout for them, they have no work as it is

What leverage does union have. A lot of sales union folk work from. I know for a fact those people are not going to actually strike when they can just log into their computer and no one would be none the wiser.

I'm telling you now is our moment. The company is in disarray, new short term leadership with zero time to prove himself, a skeptical financial market, a decaying market position. We have NEVER had more leverage. It is a gift we would be fools to pass on. Time for our boots on their heads...

Strike? Are you nuts? Look at what Boeing is doing to those on strike! They're being replaced with permanent workers that cost less.

@bd of course
At a cheap price.
Early bargaining was requested by CWA.
Vz left table last summer
CWA requested to resume now.
Who’s the one with leverage?
Not you.

The company does not want a strike, they just riffed their strike work force. If you have been watching this site you know the riffed are bitter and I doubt they would want to come back and help this company that gave them the boot. Verizon should want to make a deal.

@OP umm, union has zero leverage. Has sold members out for years. These old union members will take any deal because most can retire after this contract.

Its over for the union and rightfully so. The company has had it with lazy wirkers who feel they are entitled to a free paycheck. Bon Voyage!!!

@OP so be prepared to say no on the new contract that’s likely to be reached before it’s spring or summer.
