@rt You're right. They're already discussing options with procurement in CA (Central America), SA (South America), and Canada. Implementing the tariff will remove those options.
@qs it is the second punch which is must needed. Right now we leverage India the most and near shore models.
These Indians are sneeky. They will find a loophole and send their workers there eg Mexico or Canada.
@g9 You asked for it an it looks like it may come true...
US President Donald Trump's sudden and potentially fatal blow to the H-1B visa regime — by which mostly Indian techies and other high-skilled employees fulfilled their American dreams — may just be the first punch in a double blow. After the prohibitive $100,000 fee on H-1B visas, the next shock to fear for the Indian IT sector is a proposal for 25% tax on US firms' payments to foreign outsourcing companies
@c0 So far, however, tariff those hubs and wage differences. Penalize the vps and CEOs..
jobs in overseas offices are not impacted
Unfortunately this only pertains to importing foreign workers on H1-B / OPT, not with off-shoring jobs to other countries.
An improvement, to be sure, but not quite enough to prevent off-shoring.
