Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

The Hunger Games

Besides the people that were let go, the impact on their families and this ever changing landscape, where it is difficult to find a new job, there are other casualties as well:
Work that will fall on the decimated teams, survivors guilt, and environment of fear and hopelessness.
Is it finally done for this calendar year?

Yes we are becoming unemployable. AI training consists of YouTube videos. What a waste of time.

Idk what y’all are talking about. We are hiring a bunch of AI roles. Keep skills updated culture is shifting here imo to move like a tech company. 🤷‍♂️

Job market outside is very bad. Just manage some how to stay in your role, and upgrade your skills. And by Feb March 2026, work aggressively to find a new job. Staying in OT will make you useless for rest of your life.

It’s not personal, it’s business.

@OP
If you work at OT the answer is no. It is not over by any means.

I don't care what your position is ...you need to be looking for a job!
If you are a manager..please ..advise your team to do so as well.
This company has always laid off quarterly some under the radar ...however if anything it will likely pick up. OT is now in the process of a full blown turnaround..
Whether that be to skinny up the balance sheet for a bulk sale..breakup or saving part of the business. Anyone that works at OT especially if you are in the US should be looking.
If you are over 45 this should be your number one focus. Again, regardless of your position because to them, it's just business. There is zero human equation factored in.

@a6 I truly wish you the best. I know there’s a lot of anxiety going around, but at the end of the day, your physical and psychological well-being matter most. No matter what’s happening around you, try not to carry too much stress, my friend.

@OP May the odds be ever in your favor. The future ain’t what it used to be. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but the past provides the context for the present, and what has happened before sets the stage for what is to come. Leopards don’t change their spots, and neither will OpenText. So to expect otherwise is foolish. People go crazy in congregations; they only get better one by one. Change starts with individuals, not companies. So expect layoffs, but hope the odds are in your favor.
