Has anyone heard when they plan to make an announcement about the status of the site?

@q1 It’s not really a matter of being in the know or not. In this case, is it someone intentionally providing disinformation to keep the staff complacent while management prepare to pull the rug out from under everyone. It is about control and nothing more. They can’t have people leave before the company is ready to get rid of them. Everyone in Pennington is aware that the site is potentially closing. The only question is the date. There has never been any appetite by management to expand at that location although there were many opportunities. Also there are zero senior managers at that site. It is doomed. The deadline to opt out of the lease is next month. Just waiting for the official announcement now.

@a3+1k and @ab+1k - basically defines this forum. This forum is a useless place, lets one vent a lot and post racist remarks and degrade people. There is no real information or even water-cooler chats but pure speculation and personal wishes.

Messages -back to back - one says NOT CLOSING and other says TO BE CLOSED and a third one hedges until October

If you do not have information why even respond? There are folks who have financial impact if the place is closed. Imagine the time to be invested, commuting costs to JC or elsewhere. Not only that the additional expenses on day-care and other requirements where a 20-30 minute drive just changed to 2 hrs.

I asked Copilot whether you have a case if forced to relocate or quit:

Employment Contract: If your contract includes a relocation clause, your employer may have the right to request a move. But if the clause is vague or missing, courts may side with you.

Reasonableness of Relocation: Courts often assess whether the relocation request is “reasonable” based on distance, role, and personal circumstances. If the move is extreme or disruptive, it may be deemed unreasonable.

Constructive Dismissal: If you're told to move or resign, and the relocation is not part of your original agreement, this could qualify as constructive dismissal—meaning you're forced to quit due to unfair changes. That could entitle you to severance or damages.

At-Will Employment: In many U.S. states, at-will employment allows employers to change job terms or terminate employment without cause. However, they still can't violate anti-discrimination laws or public policy.

State Laws: Your rights also depend on your state. Some states require reasonable notice or justification for relocation demands. Others may offer stronger protections against forced resignation.

🛠️ What You Can Do
Don’t Resign Immediately: Resigning voluntarily may weaken your case. Instead, document everything.

Review Your Contract: Look for relocation clauses or terms that define job location.

Consult HR: Ask for written clarification and reasoning behind the relocation demand.

Gather Evidence: Emails, policies, and communications can support your case.

Talk to a Lawyer: An employment attorney can assess whether you have grounds for compensation or legal action.

The Wilmington office is around 60 miles south of the Pennington office. That would be a terrible commute, but if you can't find a job and this is your only option, it's doable for a while.

Theyre going to keep closing locations and forcing people wfh only to lay them off for having no office to go too. For the rest, its literally putting you all in a positing to fight for a open desk because there is no room in these buildings and not enough of them. Its intentional to continue to reduce head count in the U.S by flagging you for not meeting RTO . RV needs to go and we need americans in these positions

Pennington closing is not a surprise to anyone that is based there. One of the worst kept secrets at this place.

It is anticipated that the Pennington location may be closed early next year, as senior leadership does not visit this office on a regular basis. A final decision regarding the closure is expected to be made within the next month. In the event of closure, all staff currently based in Pennington will be relocated to the Jersey City office

Pennington is not closing. Heard this from more than several people with intimate knowledge on this. They may actually be renting out more space in one of the other buildings though.
