Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Lots of shady actions posted recently - why are you putting up with it

Haven't been here for awhile and looking at the postings I am shocked that people are putting up with this mess.

Managers/Directors openly disrespecting staff, threatening them in front of witnesses, making up jobs/roles but not compensating them appropriately, scolding them for not asking about pronouns to members who likely are clueless or will loose their mind at the question, insane micromanagement. and people are just putting up with it.

My Goodness!!! Use your power and the power of the policies posted in Workday for this and start calling it out. Being afraid of being Rifed is turning people into doormats. Stand up for yourself!!!

@186 I totally agree. Nowadays, you can no longer rely on entities within the organization to protect you such as ethics line, hr4u, your leadership. If the situation calls for it, much better off contacting an employment lawyer. Most times, first consultation visit with them is free. And if the lawyer thinks their is a case or could be a case with a little more evidential documentation, they will recommend next steps and in some cases may not even charge you unless you get settlement.

@py or HR changes the narrative to keep the offender employed and the person reporting to ethics gets in trouble. You guys have way too much faith in the “ tools ” here. I think you are naive.

HR??? What a joke. The entire time i was on the phone with them I continually heard roosters in the background. This is a foreign company now. Not American.

@p5 I imagine HR would be involved to fire the individual that breeched the Ethics standards. I don't think Ethics fires people, they do investigate and take appropriate action. I agree with the other poster, use the tools you have to deal with je-ks

@ef Won’t ethics and compliance get HR involved? Are you implying that ethics and compliance investigates these instances independent from HR? That surprises me.

I reported our toxic leader to Ethics for comments made in a staff meeting. I know that at least 2 co workers did as well. It was all anonymous and when I was asked why I did not want to give my name I said retribution. Pleased to say the toxic person has found their way to the door. The announcement to the team was met with crickets.

I will leave when I am good and ready and if I get Rif'd well... oh well.. in the meantime I choose to use the tools available to me to address behavior that should never be tolerated. I am glad another poster reminded people about Ethics - make me take the dam training then expect me to use it.

The company is sick from Gail on down. Don’t try to fix it or understand it. Tell management what they want to hear. Do the minimum. Don’t take things personally. Be a player. Look for something better so when you get RIFed you have a plan B. This is from a professional career coach. It’s hopeless at Elevance.

If you have worked here for any amount of time you know how worthless HR is - I don't think the OP was talking about HR.

Ethics and Compliance is where you go to report harrassment - threatening an employee in front of other employees at a meeting belongs there -

OP must be HR and trying to figure out who to target for the next riff list. Don’t people realize all the required HR training we do is for the company to check a box to cover their as--s if needed. Just because a policy is posted in Workday doesn’t mean anything. All these policies can be twisted to suit the company. They don’t give 2 sh--s about us.

@a5 The exact same thing happened to me. I went to HR regarding a matter related to my resource manager, and I was the one that ended up with a reprimand (not a PIP that I know of, just an email to intimidate me to keep my mouth shut going forward). Don't even bother with HR. Just do as little as you can get by with while searching for a job externally.

I was the one who posted about the vanity title. Generalizing to protect my anonymity. Our group keeps getting cut and the message is what we are being tasked with is not a choice and what the business needs, we are lucky to still have jobs. It’s not a matter of standing up for ourselves it’s survival through the next RIF round.

And report toooooo?????? HR isn’t there to help you, it’s there to help the company. I’ve been asked by HR in the past to outline a toxic manager’s actions that lead me to report them and then they literally turned around and handed it to them where they we-ponized it against me. The culture needs to change
