Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

This is hard to watch

Watching Elevance Health slowly sink like the Titanic. It’s hard to imagine they will ever recover from this mess.

I do feel for those with years left to work and the job market being weak, but as someone ready to walk out the door into retirement, as far as the corporation is concerned, I could care less if it burned to the ground. After all, the majority of us have zero retirement benefits to collect. And all h_ll would have to freeze over before I would pay my hard-earned money (the majority of it earned elsewhere) to this company for medical coverage. I don't want to have to deal with all of their prior auth rejections to get medical care.

Let it sink. This is not what I signed up for. Taking my AIP and swimming back to shore. It's more like a floating dumpster fire at this point.

@ne they have only been told for years to fix the issue with CMS and they failed to do it. So you have to ask yourself if it was an "easy fix" why did they wait years and after being sanctioned to "fix" it?

@ne - Leadership is following the legacy of Baghdad Bob.

We have been advised by leadership that we shouldn't worry about the sanctions and we will get them overturned. That we have people working around the clock updating our records and that it is a simple fix. That we should not need to worry about our roles with the company and that leadership has the upmost confidence that the sanctions will be resolved by 4/1.

Meanwhile I feel like a frog in a pot of water and the temperature is approaching boiling.

The captain "Fail" Boudreaux won't go down with the s**t ship; and I think some of the others are already getting in the lifeboats with their watches intact.

@g6: we’ve got lots of talented people here. I bet we could get a bunch of them with some musical talent and get a band together. Even if we’re in different offices, we could have Teams based concerts. That’s what we need here to boost morale - an Elevance theme song!

@OP It reminds me of an old comic strip which reads:

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS PLACE AND THE TITANIC IS THEY HAD A BAND.

@db I’ve said many times this place has a toxic positivity problem. Every problem has to be talked about with some sort of positive spin that you can’t quite tell how bad the consequences of the problem will end up being. And then the littlest fix’s that go into place that bandaid a huge problem are treated like it is some huge innovation. If you point out any possible problems, then you are treated like a negative Nelly and earn the disdain of all higher ups.

@cb Exactly this. People will no longer fight the stupidity when they get labeled as not being a team player or being change resistant simply for stating how things work. The fixers are viewed negatively while the do nothing rah-rah folks get rewarded, for doing NOTHING. It is a culture of Favoritism, Enabling Dysfunction, and kissing UP, which leaves real workers FED UP. (Elevance loves its Acronyms!)

@aa This is gonna make it hard to hit Medicare targets this year. But Leadership will blame the worker bees for this even though this is a stupid prize for one of their stupid games.

@aa Well when you Rif so many that have the most experience, hire cheaper and less qualified people, promote and elevate those that are corrupt and not competent (shielding the incompetent ones), not listen to seasoned people who have been yelling from the rooftop for YEARS that sanctions and bad ones will be coming, breeding a horribly toxic work culture... guess what? People stop caring, they stop talking and they just blindly do the work and "don't see issues" because it doesn't matter. Brining up any real issue in this company and having any ethics or morals just gets you on the Rif list. I hope it crashes, the whole system needs to.

@a8 sanctioned by CMS. Can’t enroll any new CMS members. Leadership reorg. Stock tanked over 8% today after tanking more than that the past week. Sad what Gale has done to this company. This would never have happened under Larry Glasscock.
