I can only stay in office for 7 hours due to my kids’ school schedule

Work at night is very common for our team.

Will I get a PIP? Or let go?

My family needs the paycheck.

Nothing "ruined this for everybody" - this was a decision by WF to try to make life miserable for its employees and get them out, nothing more. People having flexibility to work around life makes them happier, more dedicated employees and those stick around - which is the opposite of what WF wants.

Many managers have commented on how productivity went UP during/after covid, not down. I've been remote for over a decade and have worked 10-12 hr days most days. Now I'm only doing 8, not a minute more. Good job WF!

Our executive said to hire a nanny. Don't use child care as an excuse not to work, or to work from home. That's the kind of thing that has now ruined it for everyone.

talk to you boss and just do what you need to do. if you get called out for being 7 hours then start going in 8. my guess is they are going after the coffee badgers first. if you are a wraging 7-8 I'd guess you're fine

Yeah, I think that's one of the goals they want - to get women out of the workforce to align with the current regime's mindset and reinforce that we women are 2nd class citizens (assuming we get to remain actual citizens).

I was told it must be 8 hours. Also, why is there so much hate to working mothers on this site? Some of my coworkers with young kids can run circles around the boomers and are insanely productive in less time. They’re measuring this all wrong - it should be based on output not hours in an office chair or mouse clicks.

My boss said that bulk of time in office on office days suffices. 6.5-7 hours should be fine unless your boss is a zealot, if that's the case apply for a different team.

Making up the lost hours at home doesn't meet the collaboration needs of your team and general officemates.

You will have a tough road ahead, missing out on all that.

You should look for a factory job. Many of those start their shifts at 6am so you may be done in time. You aren't going to find many, if any, other jobs that allow you to leave in the middle of the afternoon every day.

This is why RTO mandates disproportionately impact mothers (there have been a number of studies)--they're most often the ones who end up doing drop offs/pick-ups/sick kid duty. More women being forced out of the workforce by inflexible companies, but that's what the fossils in the C-suite want.

If you and the other parent, assuming they're around, can work it so that one of you drops off in the morning and goes to work later, while the other goes to work earlier and does pick-up, you might be okay. If that's not possible, you should start job hunting. WF doesn't care, and won't give you "credit" for those evening hours.
