Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Is the staff reduction real ?

I am just wondering if this site just makes us believe that situation is worse than is it ? All my colleagues I worked with are still here and I haven’t truly seen a job displacement due to HIH or AI yet. Yes some VP or contractors were let go that I knew but everyone is still there.

@OP It didn't happen to me, so it should be fake news!!! WOW... WOW!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Just like everything happening in this country! "It did not affect me, so it's not accurate".

I know about 500 people who left because they knew the end was near or were eventually eliminated. Then the entire group was sold off. It took about 3 years from start to finish. Most didn’t want to give up severance so they hung around the others that were good left got paid more so they didn’t care.

Some of you are delusional! If you think for the mast majority you are safe or you think the staff reduction isn’t real! I had been with the company since 1999. I had been told my job was safe. I was the only one left that knew my job.. That didn’t matter Feb 19th. I was not on any kind of PIP, had never been written up and always recieved a great year end evaluation. But yet I was tossed like a cheap suit.

Yes and if they are ftalented and took VRP many have a non compete clause that keeps them from seeking certain jobs because they are competitors . Wouldn’t want to risk that year of pay. Many took it because it was too good of an offer but they still want to work well into their 60s

@qd That perfectly describes today’s political climate.

It’s really disappointing that there are people out there that genuinely don’t care about something or question it’s validity until it affects them.

OP here: not gaslighting anyone 😁 I was just trying to say that sometimes this site can just make you believe things are too bad than they actually are.

What part of the company do you work in where there have been zero layoffs??? I’m not sure if this post is just trolling.

Yes it’s real but the majority will be fine. It’s tough for those impacted. Gotta keep delivering. I’ve been playing this game since 2006.

Did you receive the email announcing the 2,000 people to be let go in January alone? In addition to those who accepted the VRP (voluntary retirement) in the January VRP offering. There was also a VRP offering last summer, and I have been watching these layoffs happen for over 2 years now, some months are small and some quite large. Some followed the calendar, and some were on weeks not listed in the calendar. So yes, it's very true. You are lucky you and your team have not been affected (yet). Considering the tens of thousands of employees in this company, there will likely be teams where the impact is not felt all that hard.

Real. Lost my job at Cigna a few weeks ago. It was not t automated but rather to cut costs and prop up stock for shareholders. It’s always all about the shareholders including automation and staffing moves to overseas. Lean and cheap staffing = lower operating costs and more profits.

Let's just say automation is real. Here is an example. https://www.palantir.com/offerings/insurance/

Yeah, just because it hasn’t (yet) directly affected your work life, it does not mean it won’t. it is happening to others and it’s shittier than what gets posted on here.
