How to get a raise!

Top performers rarely "negotiate" for raises at all… They spend 6-12 months building an undeniable case. The +PARIS Method transforms this into a repeatable system. When done right, your raise becomes the obvious next step.

Here’s the framework:

Most people wing their salary negotiations. They wait until review time, rehearse a speech, and hope for the best. But high performers know the truth: The negotiation starts months before you ever ask for the raise.

The secret?

The "+" in the +PARIS Method. Set expectations EARLY:

  • Schedule a meeting with your manager
  • Create a clear roadmap of what excellence looks like
  • Set quarterly milestones to track progress…

Win the game before it starts.

P = Prepare Like a Pro Your manager should never be surprised by your achievements. Build your "Success Portfolio":

  • Document every win
  • Track metrics obsessively
  • Gather market data on top performer salaries

Remember: If you can't measure it, you can't monetize it.

A = Ask Like You're Adding Value Frame your raise as an investment opportunity for the company. Start with: "Based on [specific metrics] and [concrete results], I'd like to discuss compensation that reflects this level of impact."
Position yourself as an asset…

R = Reinforce with Results Stack your wins until they're undeniable:

  • Process improvements
  • Revenue generated
  • Project successes
  • Team impact
  • Cost savings

Make saying "no" harder than saying "yes."

I = Inquire About Growth If the timing isn't right, pivot:

  • Project ownership
  • Leadership opportunities
  • Performance-based incentives - Professional development budgets

Remember: Sometimes the path to higher compensation isn't a straight line.

S = Seal with Strategy Close strong:

  • Express genuine gratitude
  • Highlight upcoming impact opportunities
  • Document agreements clearly
  • Set next milestone meeting

The end of one negotiation is the beginning of your next one.

This is #gold and this the #path

Good luck!!!

The only way to get a raise or promotion in today's Wells Fargo is to become asian. Of the 15-20 people recognized for promotions, only one was not asian. Racisim still lives here, it just changed which race was on top.

The part pasted below from the OP is key, you need to start talking about a salary increase or promotion or larger bonus now for 2025:

Most people wing their salary negotiations. They wait until review time, rehearse a speech, and hope for the best. But high performers know the truth: The negotiation starts months before you ever ask for the raise.

Yeah, agree with poster on safe spaces. If you do the PARIS method, you'll get used. The only people that get things here are friends of friends.

Change jobs within Wells Fargo and negotiate your wage. Increased my salary by 50% in last 4 years doing this. I have no loyalty to anyone or department in this company so I might as well try for higher salary than doing what I love.

I prefer the D.E.N.N.I.S. System

  1. Demonstrate Value: Present oneself as valuable to the target.
  2. Engage Physically: Initiate physical intimacy.
  3. Nurture Dependence: Create situations where the target relies on the initiator.
  4. Neglect Emotionally: Withdraw affection to foster insecurity.
  5. Inspire Hope: Offer false promises to maintain interest.
  6. Separate Entirely: End the relationship abruptly.

Wow, somebody was on the internet. Whohoo!

OP,
Why don't you save yourself some time and run down to Harbor Freight and grab some cheap knee pads. Would be faster and more efficient.

This method may work in "psychologically safe" places. But Wells is not. The +PARIS method and agile methods do NOT work in psychologically unsafe places.
Most managers here only care that the project(s) they facilitate get done. They too are in a sinking boat where most future opportunities and projects are being cut back or sent to India They don't care about you, or your progress as @krr+1vtOSfYi says.
I suggest that you take all the +PARIS and apply it to your internal self-management. Did you work on upskilling yourself? Do you owe yourself a raise?

Your manager only makes recommendations. People higher up, who know nothing about your actual performance, will make the final decision.

Won’t work at most places with full comp cycle processes.

There isn’t really a mechanism for getting raises like this at Wells. It’s hidebound by rigid compensation policies and procedures.
