I would argue it's (yet another) example of the Dunning-Kruger effects at play in a C-suite. These are people (at the very top) with little/no technical knowledge or experience, but full of themselves because they managed to weasel their way to the opt. This is a very technical business, which needs technically-savvy leadership, not glorified salesmen.

These are just sociopaths who are following the quarterly market hype. It is foolish to expect anything brilliant or honorable from these folk.

Seems like we are living in times of far below mediocre leadership in corporations and politics likewise.
At a time where we would need the best of the best to fix the grave issues we are facing.
I think the plan is if you ziz zag enough then eventually you will be going in the right direction by the law of averages
