Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Laying of 45+

If you are 45+ old then they start finding ways to lay you off. Ageism is playing huge role in job market right now with recruiters asking questions like which year did you finish your education, indirectly gauging your age and not moving forward. Its depressing. Valuing experience over youth.

this is 100% accurate. they are targeting the over 45 people but cover their butts with the older workers/60 day cr-p. would love to see a class action lawsuit brought against them.
the older folks and the disabled/accommodation folks are target #1

@km You're a keyboard coward. Bet you wouldn't speak that without the cover of anonymity. You make yourself look bad.

Over 50, how can I make this happen? Would love my 60 day window plus 12 months.

They'll start moving you further and further away from your area of expertise so when the over 50 crowd is laid off it can be attributed to lack of expertise compared to coworkers.
My advice - don't volunteer to assist on projects or for groups outside your LOB/experience.

Did you know age discrimination is protected under federal law, and is also a DEI component? To all you uninformed or willfully ignorant older employees who've been applauding with delight while Wells and other companies quietly abandon DEI, you will get the karma you deserve. You didn't give a cr-p when you erroneously thought it addressed only race or gender inequities.

At over 50, I've accepted it's highly unlikely I'll find another position here. I'll take my 9 months of severance then become a ho-o.

It’s not age discrimination when most of your workers are over 35 anyway. This place is like an old folks home.

@OP I hope this is not the case because that would be over 50% of the people I work around.

Many parts of the world have valued youth and vigor over wisdom and experience. This is nothing new, and has always been a reality for people in the middle of their life.

This is what capitalism requires, the cheapest, hardest-working labor that is most exploitable.

They hire a 3rd party to review lists so they do not get into discrimination problems. If there are issues the third party is liable. Sneaky chaps
