It’s deeply troubling to see a U.S. healthcare giant that earns its revenue from American citizens choose to outsource the majority of its IT workforce overseas. While this may boost profits, it undermines high-paying domestic jobs and displaces loyal employees who, in many cases, dedicated decades of service. For a company entrusted with the nation’s health, this move reflects corporate greed at its worst, profiteering at the expense of both its people and the economy it relies on.

And where does the initial cost come from? If hospitals. Dr practices , and big pharma did not price gouge in the first place there would be no need to insure the industry. Insurance used to be only for catastrophic events. But no money is made unless a procedure or office visit happens. The sun came up go to the dr. In the medicare arena many tests are performed not because necessary but medicare allows it. Primary care performs a test, week later oncologist, endocrinologist etc... Results were available in the EHR from the beginning. One metro area in US has more imaging machines than entire countries. Gotta run those 24/7 to pay for the equipment. AMA fight to keep the number of slots in medical school low to keep prices up since it is good for them in the wallet. everyone involved is just a pig slurping at the trough.
@a3 this is why doctors in medical claim review now have to post the simplest little things in full layout that is needless
rationale: xyz
Decision: xyz
Policy: xyz
It is going to be because AI is taking this over and it has to be laid out in a certain way so that it can be trained. I have not laid it out perfectly, but you get the point. They only have US doctors because the law requires it. It’s also getting very state specific now. Otherwise they’d be dumping us too.
@OP heck they outsourced the nurses too. They got rid of most of the onshore nurses in medical claim review. Probably other areas also and most of them are in the Philippines. Worse, HR is mainly in the Philippines. That’s discouraging when you have to call.
@k3
There is a difference in Washington…….. Republicans are in bed with greedy healthcare lobbyists while few democrats are on the other side of the bed , majority democrats are knocking the door to dismantle the bed. The problem is VOTERS who consistently voting against their economic self interests.
The great American experiment is over!
ya i totally believe what a titktoker with tattoos all the way up her arm says
@a3 Washington (both sides) are in bed with the CEOs. This could have been stopped years ago, but the CEOs have deep pockets
@OP "earns its revenue from American citizens". I never thought of this before but its so true. Deportation needs to be handled not only physically within the country but within corporations using these other countries to take away from America citizens. I pray this happens.
This is not only in the IT department, it’s happening across the whole company. By next year only about 5 - 6 states out of 52 is handled by us onshore. The rest are moved to offshore workers sadly. With AI taking over as well, things are not looking too good for us.
If you’ve ever opened a medical bill and felt a wave of nauseated confusion, you’ve experienced the American healthcare system not as a patient, but as a consumer. Worse, as a consumer who just bought a product they didn’t order, at a price that wasn’t disclosed, from a seller they didn’t choose.
We are the only wealthy nation on earth that treats healthcare primarily as a commodity—a product to be bought and sold in a marketplace. This is not an abstract economic choice; it is a profound moral failure that sickens our citizens and bankrupts our families, all while generating staggering profits for a powerful few.
Gotta wonder, why aren't corporations getting penalized for their offshore policies? If you want to bring work back to the American workforce, we need to make companies accountable for hiring in the US. It's not just a\bout bringing your company here to the US, it's even more about hiring our people. Our hiring ratio onshore/offshore mandate is gross. Add DEI on top and it's a fire-keg. Wait, there's more... you better be an AI practitioner and be a Cloud guru. All aspects of growth of our US market need to be in focus, not just part of it. Ask yourself this, where are your kids going to work if most of the work is OGA and AI is quite literally the way some companies are looking at reduction in workforce.
