Offshore meetings, discussions and sharing of work

In some cases, the operational decisions made by Oracle directors are completely baffling. They have this pattern of reassigning projects from their U.S. and European employees to offshore teams, which consistently creates major friction.

Initially, our U.S. teams have the clear advantage, but they're quickly outmaneuvered by the sheer size of the offshore teams. This approach severely erodes the trust and confidence employees have in their leadership and their career path. Their contributions are often viewed as ancillary, and they rarely get the proper credit.

It feels like U.S. staff are being brought on board to train offshore teams, only to be deemed expendable once the knowledge transfer is complete. You can see this pattern in meetings: my contributions are significant at the start of a project, but my input gradually diminishes. As a result, I've started to limit my engagement with offshore teams, providing only high-level outlines of the work instead of detailed technical walkthroughs.

Usually H-1b's and Offshore should aid the U.S employees. But it works like snatching the work and more promotions are given to offshore. U.S employees left in limbo.

@k2 O for a long time has been hiring employees with a very basic weak skills just to pay them less. I remember that when my team needed additional employee as a senior and we just told manager that upper skill person should join our team, the answer was no, because they were allowed to hire only starting from basics level. And the people we already got on 1 Lvl weren’t smart and eager to learn. So it was like stuck with nothing.

@a4 That's the truth. It's no surprise Oracle is looking to cut US numbers when you see how much it costs them to hire bumbling id--ts. But this time they seem to have fired a bunch of real talent as well (presumably because they were very, very expensive)

If you notice your daily responsibilities starting to drift offshore, it's a sign that you're getting laid off. Better do plan B.

It’s not decisions made by middle management. In the Netsuite gbu most of these decisions are coming from the gvp level

From my experience, you get much more value offshore - not just because of lower costs, but also because of the skillset. Especially in Eastern Europe, you can find excellent talent at a reasonable price. In the US, you often get IDC-level quality, but at a US-level price.
