Workload Unreasonable

Will senior management take any time to address unreasonable workloads following layoffs/reorg? Demands are increasing beyond what was previously handled by a much larger team. I understand we need to improve outcomes but it would make things more bearable if there was appreciation/acknowledgment/discussion around now dealing with insane workload. Is senior management aware this is an issue while they ask for more and more? What to do?

You are expected to handle your job. Priortize and improve it so that the workload in manageable. If you cannot do your job, XOM can find someone who can handle the job. YOU ARE REPLACEABLE

Time to stop wasting time with all the bs risk assessments, control exercises, audits...use to have to start every meeting with a safety minute...wtf. If we actually focused on business , speed to market, etc we would be better off. Now we don’t have the resources to do anything but to stop wasting time...

Yes, they are hiring like crazy outside of US. The corporate goal is, for corp work: supervisors/managers here in the US and the workers outside. Great opportunities for supv/mgrs to fly business class all the time. Right? Right?

And then they tell us we can’t rollover more than 10 days vacation. Who do they expect to do the work? I can’t take vacation because when I come back there is so much work piled up I want to hang myself.

I feel sorry for the newbies, they are drowning just before getting fired in the next round.

As for the BTC hiring, they had massive resignations too, so they keep trying to replace. Soon there will be none to train replacements.

But we are still #winning, I’m told

Your manager will show you lots of care to help you. Also, thank you for your contributions and please work harder. Don’t be a pu–y in complaining. Outsourced workers are cheaper and don’t complain as much!

Just an observation over many years: About 20% of the work doesn’t need doing...but nobody has the courage to just take it off the table. Same for all that outsourced work too. Ask yourself: Does this work protect safety and the environment? Does it make money (or touch money)? If you answer ‘no’ to both, there is a good chance you can back-burner it.

ExxonMobil, management and HR are WEAK!!! They care nothing about you or your workload. It’s easier for them to drop your ranking for not being able to keep up. That’s when you get added to the MLRP list. WEAK!!
