Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What's the deal with people?

There’s a strange tendency online and in workplaces for people to build entire narratives about others from very little actual information.

Not everyone who’s quiet is antisocial. Not every awkward interaction means something sinister. And not every rumor deserves to grow into a story people repeat as fact.

At some point, common sense and basic fairness should matter more than assumptions.

I’ve had a difficult year personally and professionally, and one thing I’ve learned is how damaging speculation can become when people stop communicating directly and start projecting motives onto others.

I’m not interested in drama, conflict, or relitigating anything publicly. I just think people should be more careful about assigning labels to others they don’t actually know, have never come into contact with and never met or spoken. Freaking ridiculous and inhumane.

Looking at this entire thread just tells me how ridiculous things are here. "you must be the only one who feels this way" insanity.

@j4

As soon as I'm able to afford the lower pay, I'll be gladly taking the lower pay for less drama approach. The money will cease to be worth it after a certain point.

This is @e6+1ksdhppcm again...

@hy+1ksdhppcm You should put some knowledge in your brain besides your technical skills. It is bad enough when you cannot realize the truth when you read it...

@hz+1ksdhppcm I don't need validation from anybody, nor I need to make up new identities to agree with me. I am a man, a self sufficient one. No need for subterfuges to prove my point or win an argument. You can agree or disagree with me. I don't care.

IDK if there is a smear campaign about me at work. I don't care, and even less I'd post it publicly. I have no ambitions inside Ford. My managers let me be, since I shoot straight, no matter who is in front of me. I do my job, I get paid, I give a sh!t about the company and most of my coworkers, and I have a life outside of Ford. Ford is not the end, but a way, a tool to keep the life standards I have.

@e7+1ksdhppcm You should realize that you are a menace to someone, if there is a campaign against you going on. That means you have some skills, you are doing your job well enough, and causing some envy/jealousy on some pathetic coworker. I hope you keep doing what you are doing, but if it gets on your nerves, remember those same skills will allow you to get another job outside FMC.

I have been around a lot, and the corporate world is the same BS no matter what company you are working for. Medium size companies tend to be better, depending of the owners, but the pay is lower. That's why I keep dealing with the corporate BS, hoping to have enough dough and quit the rat race someday. Good luck!

@e6 100% true. A coworker launched a smear campaign against me, employing numerous passive-aggressive tactics, and even extended this harassment to this site. They have threatened to continue smearing me until I relent. I simply cannot comprehend the world anymore; how can people go home and feel good about themselves after behaving this way? I have always tried to live by the Golden Rule. Most of the time, it works out well and people are decent, but sometimes, it offers no help at all. Management enables it rather than ending it.

@OP. Corporate world is where women and emasculated men thrive, since they can start defamation campaigns against the coworkers with most merits. Manly men tend to confront opponents directly and openly, while "not manly" men and women tend to backstab their opponent's character in the gossips.

Ford was never a complete meritocracy, since having friends in high positions always trumped the merits, but lately, in the last 5-7 years, things have gone off the rails. We are now a hotbed for nepotism and cronyism. Therefore, the way to invalidate a technical able coworker is to start a gossip (or several), targeting that coworker.

The problem for Ford is that there are less and less technical able people in the company. Most technical people choose to leave, and others, like me, we just hide in our "cocoons", ignoring the rest of the company. So now the defamers are fighting the same type of people for the promotions, with all of them making up damaging gossips about the others. It is more defamation than work, more looking the part than doing it, and we can see the results in the company.

Management doesn't care about stopping it. In fact, many managers are the ones playing this game. So why do you care OP? Just close your ears to the poison dripping gossips, and move on.

These kinds of people are insecure because they assume they understand someone else’s personal life.

@d0 I don’t think Doug gives a sh-t anymore, he’s likely just a little tired of the abuse, wouldn’t everyone love to hear the full story? I think it might be time for openness around the executive goings ons.

@b7 - DF - Go take your millions and get off this site!! It is pathetic that you post about yourself in the third person, as if we can’t figure it out!!

Agree that the criticism in this forum is unfounded on DF's numerous accomplishments at Ford and his setting up Ford's prosperous future. This needs to stop.

What's your age group? This is common amongst Gen Z and the Boomers in corporate america. It's a mental illness that has been denied for years.

💯 Unfortunately this will continue due to the corporate culture. There are people who see things for what they are but they are few and far between. Apparently humanity isn’t important in corporate organizations, yet we are all people putting their pants on one leg at a time.
