I think people have really had enough and many are at their breaking point. To say that work atmosphere is somber is being generous. If the goal was to crush everybody's spirit, then job well done, Exxon. I've never worked in a more depressing surrounding than I do now.

Do not trust any XOM HR process, any Manager, any Supervisor and any of your peers. The system is rigged to make you believe it is real, that it is in your favor, that it empathizes with you, that it understands you, that it sympathizes with you, that it is concerned about your children, your spouse,, your work/home balance, your health, your finances, your home, your well being. The company spies on your keystrokes, your emails, listens to your phone calls, tracks your cell phones, watches you on your lap top camera, reads your texts and tracks your card keys. Your managers interview your peers to find out what you are saying and your peers report what you are saying to your managers often times lying about it. This all sounds very harsh, but it is also very, true and very real. Highly ranked employees get PIPed, strange huh, NO! HR changing the PAPD process was an illusion, a magic trick, it was not real, it was to done to give us hope that things were going to change, that we would maybe have a chance at WINNING, WE ARE EXXONMOBIL. BLAH. Do not buy this b—s— they are trying to sell us. Buckle up, find somewhere else to work this outfit is now poison, and if you have to stay then trust no one and ride out the storm until you can get out. GOD Bless you All. 🙏
Isn't this awful work atmosphere a raging success from the Upstream Culture Manager and her team??
I mean, massive props to create the most dreadful, depressing, and hopeless company culture we’ve had in decades.
With their slogans and reorgs they successfully transformed a culture from fear and braggadocio into a work environment of doom.
Well done! RSUs for you, and a future promotion. #Winning #WeAreExxonmobil
Employee forums are not for the employees. They are for senior sociopaths to address the serfs. It makes the sociopaths, the narcissist feel better about themselves that they have addressed the little people. Then they go back to their offices and have great thoughts and their Kool aid drinking, yes men, butt kissing, direct reports tell them what a great job they did and how in touch they are with the troops and how in tune their messages are. Then they collect their big salaries, vote themselves some more RSUs, and fire some more employees and call it a great day at the god pod.
Can’t wait to hear about all our success and the awesome plans for the future. Perhaps they will communicate how after all these layoffs there is more upward mobility. Maybe even some announcements of raises for the management committee. I mean we all sacrifice for them. And only pleasing them will cheer us up.
Everyone should turn their backs to the podium during the forum or stand up and walk out at the same time.
Management has no idea what is really going on because they surround themselves with yes men and no longer allow anonymous questions in the forum. I was counting on a brave soul who has already found a new job to ask a big FU question live in the upcoming forum but then I saw they are hand selecting the attendees “due to COVID”
My advice, ride this donkey as far as it will take you but know that you will need a refreshed donkey sooner or later...plan accordingly
You perfectly defined the employer/employee relationship at XOM.
@log+19UArwdo It makes people wh–es who exchange a life for money. Work is a marriage.
Hunger games is right. I haven’t thought of that, but a perfect metaphor. The guys with the roses is the board and ceo.
PADP season has always being a drag, but it has never felt this dreadful in my decade here.
It’s like there’s is no fu ks left to give while at the same time there is a sense of impending doom. I feel like no matter what I have accomplished and what I write, there will be no point. I don’t trust my supervisor to fight for me. I don’t believe they are done throwing people over. I think I’m not alone expecting to be dumped in the summer without a package.
To make matters worse, most of my buds have left, voluntarily or otherwise, so there is none to talk - aside from my toxic managers and the colleagues I expect to fight against. I am mentally done with the lies, the fake positivity, and the hunger games.
I think it’s best to just focus my energy and optimism job hunting.
Management and it's fake culture is disgusting. This leads to employees slowly getting brain poisoned and eventually becoming worthless psychopaths. Overall a low morale place.
Yet you stay. This place really is like an abusive relationship. I know the money is good (the s3x for the relationship analogy to work), but at what cost to your mental and physical health, let alone your long term career potential?
