Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

So sorry to everyone who was laid off today

I lost two truly competent people on my team - we are certainly going to feel it.

@jb what they are going to "feel" is the work of those that were Rif'd being assigned to them to do when people are already overworked. What they are also going to "feel" is the loss of experienced people that they can go to. You are right about upper leadership not really caring and that the best you can do keep your head down and do what you can to hit your goals and look for other opportunities outside of this place.

@OP interesting that you say "we are going to feel it" - are you personally responsible for any goal other than the one assigned to your role. Do that - frankly there is nothing to "feel" head down, meet standards and look for another job in another company and get out of this place. Your "boss" doesn't feel a thing and that person "boss" doesn't care about who is gone -

The company doesn't care about the employees. All they care about is making money for the top dogs. If you want to stay employed kiss up to manager and other leaders under your organization.
Former coworkers who were riffed are now thankful they got riffed.

I’m so sorry to hear this. What business line and program were you under?

We lost 12 people between two teams. We were a skeleton crew after the last layoff a month ago. None of it makes sense.
