Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Quiet cuts behind the scenes

Is it just me or does it fell they're quietly pushing out long-tenured employees? Not laying off specifically, but finding ways to make them quit?

@14j Nailed it. They aren't even trying to hide anymore like they were 2-3 yrs ago when the "transformation" started ramping up. We have 100% become "just another company" and we will go the route as other companies who did everything by the corporate "slash and burn" approach. We will have a short term gain in profits, but eventually the house of cards will collapse like a pyramid scheme. Once the job market starts to rebound with more footing, more and more of our ace employees (the ones left) will bolt to the exits. The only people left will be low IQ yes men, and cheap indian labor. I'm sure that will workout juuust fine. s/

100% …OPs and Service associates are being replaced with cheap India labor, most of Banking has been outsourced to US Bank.
We are just another company now, no loyalty, no culture, just GPs selling their soul for more money. They are getting rid of those who remember the “good old days” erasing the past essentially, so they can get the new people to conform to the new soulless leadership style.

@j9 If an hourly employee, contact the Wage and Hour Board with the US Dept of Labor if you are getting jipped on pay or overtime. Or, contact your state Dept. of Labor.

@bc "Work 8 like you’re paid."

This. You guys really have to stop putting in overtime for free. The company created this mess. Let them deal with the repercussions. Let the tasks be delayed. Let the emails go unanswered. You are setting a terrible precedence and letting the company off the hook by shouldering the extra work.

Turn on the location of my computer. Enforcement of 8 consecutive hours of work. Track via badge and computer usage. Add 4 full days and don’t change over hour long commute (shared at random mandate after we have all moved on) and ask us to care? By the way, no promotion for you.

@b3 you have evenings and a weekend use it to your advantage. Don’t work 9-10 hours. Work 8 like you’re paid. If they complain say you are skilling up in evening to help the firm (while helping yourself). Nobody will take care of your time more than you can for you. The firm is just another big company.

@at Upskilling is fine, but trying to find the time to do that is impossible right now with all the cross training and manpower shortages. Working 9-10 hours a day to keep up with core work puts all development and upskilling on the back burner.

Skill up. That will help you more than wondering what EDJ is going to do with your type of role. Skill up and helps you whether here or elsewhere.

Yes! Anyone that is paying attention to the latest white collar coporate trends will see what our next moves will be. That move is to start chopping jobs in small numbers, quietly, so we avoid the bad PR. It will keep all the little worker bees inline, obedient, and operate their day to day jobs with 100% effort out of fear of being next. They will also start setting measurements that cannot be met, which then gives them legal leverage to say "we had to fire john doe because he wasnt performing." RTO for all the HBAs will be another tool this year to shed jobs. People will either quit OR they will start micro managing the coffee badging and get rid of people that way.
