Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

RTO

Remote workers, sorry, you saw a real impact. As for all the doomsayers saying no more work from home or hybrid, you were WRONG! Always bringing this up during layoffs cause you are too worried about where someone is doing their job. foh!

I've heard (and this is just a rumor like everything else on this site) that an update to the RTO policy will be announced 2/11. So y'all can table the gossip until then.

Oh please. We go to the office 3 days a week and most people spend an hour in huddle rooms solo, an hour at lunch or sidekicks, 2 hours in meetings, 1 hour at desk, and then back home. RTO is a joke, its just so leadership can see people and/or tap them in real time for answers. Other than that, no one is really there from 8/9am to 5/6pm. mind your own business, there will always be remote employees. There are plenty.

@pa You weren't working at T-Mobile or Sprint. And if you were, you were the exception I promise you that.

@pa Not at TMO. It was 5 days in office.

@j1 I haven't seen a job that was 100% in office since 2013. Well before covid. At least "One day WFH per week" has been a perk for a long time and we should celebrate that, not being a slave to an office.

@j1 Before Covid were people on Slack or Teams calls all day with most of their teammates spread across multiple states and continents?

Whats the rub about returning to the office ? Anyone that worked at TMO prior to Covid was in the office 5 days a week with a few exceptions for remote workers. Didn't Zoomers, Xers, and Alphas develop any social skills ?

I get tired of people saying if I have to RTO, I will be quitting. They should of did RTO before the layoffs to see who would leave. Could have saved other people jobs.

@OP Wishful thinking my friend. 5 day RTO is coming. I am in meetings where this is being discussed. Not if, just when. Stay tuned...

If you’re bad at your job, no wfh. If you’re good at your job, wfh and flexibility. Mind your own business and just send a Teams message.

I get less work done in the office than at home. Too many distractions

@a9 comical. 100% bet you be parading laps around cubicles all day bugging everyone else rehashing about the time you peaked years ago, segwaying any way imaginable in meetings to discuss your upcoming weekend camping trip nobody gives a sh-t about is real work.

Shuffling cancelled meetings around and pretending to be the key stakeholder is real work! In case you didn't know, an SMTP packet doesn't give two shiznits where it originates from between that ID10T chair you call work and the recipients inbox, rolling their eyes after reviewing your ridiculous go-fetch requests.

I bet you also stroll in after 9am, take a long leisurely lunch, and try to duck out by 3pm with the excuse you need to go run an errand before the day is done, rinse and repeat for true peak clown behavior. Such a narcissist; nobody works harder than @a9 everybody! Copy and paste this into your Peak nomination. LOL
