Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why so many WFH exceptions?

If you make a ruling and don't apply it equally, why are you surprised when minions revolt?

I'm not talking about those w/medical accommodations or those outside of 40-mile radius.

I'm talking about entire teams who received special permission to permanently work remote. I have 2 colleagues who talk about running errands, grabbing ice cream w/kids, doing laundry, etc. Have neighbor who does the same. WTF.

Maybe there would be slightly less outrage if ridiculous RTO mandate were applied across the board.

@1gfk heard that spiel a lot over the past 4 years. I'm still here. I've survived more years of layoffs here than most people have worked here.

“Heard there is litigation around some recent layoffs where only remote workers were canned.”

How?! We are at will employees. Remote workers are not a protected class, unless, of course, they have an ADA disability and require a WFH accommodation.

Heard there is litigation around some recent layoffs where only remote workers were canned. They’re suing WF apparently, which is why there are new, tighter controls around remote working. The company will look at exceptions very closely going forward. If you are remote, there will be no protections. No one is irreplaceable. The hub strategy also coming back, so not a good time to be remote…

If people aren't doing their jobs, fire them for perf. It's not rocket surgery.

Let's put it another way, if people's production tanked in-office are they going to cancel RTO and go back to WFH? Alrighty then, obviously production has nothing to do with the decision then.

RTO is a scandal plagued, expensive, high risk archaic practice that chases off talent. It will fail. The only question is when the ivory tower types will figure that out.

Better together just means too many were taking advantage of WFH and screwing around.

Some of you just can't seem to grasp there are those of us who were hired into remote roles prior to COVID.

Just because you went from 5 days in office to temporary WFH because of a pandemic doesn't mean your job role is anywhere near the same.

Some of us are located separately from coworkers around the country precisely for disasters and not congregated into hubs.

FRTO. Just stay home like everyone else. Wells is scared of a disparate treatment lawsuit. I refuse to go back. You do the same.

Yeah, watch out if your manager's pets are located in non hub cities and you are. They will demoralize you, make you look bad and either force you to leave or put you on the layoff list so they can save their buddies. HR, are you reading this?

Or or or, hear me out, or you MIND YOUR OWN FVKKING BUSINESS!?!?

I don’t even have a WFH exclusion and I know you need to shut your mouth. Get an exclusion or figure out how to get one and get over it.

What I do know is going around worrying about things you have zero control or input over will gain you nothing.

There is one business group who has over 6,000 employees who are Remote. That is just one business group so I suspect the total number for the bank is somewhere around 20,000.

That is a lot of "exceptions" for those who are not expected to 'collaborate' with their peers.

It's one thing to hear management harping about being "efficient".

It's another to watch them do the complete opposite(RTO).

Expenses are too high, people hate going into the office and Wells is is trying to get more people into less office space. Bunch of geniuses running this place.

There seems to be thousands who are remote. Friend was going to quit and his boss let him move home to TN. His profile is now remote. Glad for him but the whole thing is BS when they’re busing my you know what to hit 3 days a week.

Those that do have exceptions better not get too comfortable. They are starting to remove them after about six months. Manager don't t even want to ask for an exception anymore because they know they are being even more highly scrutinized.

The exceptions are ridiculous especially for those that were going into the office 5 days before the pandemic. Now all of a sudden they can't come in anymore.

This is coinciding with working towards a 4 or 5 day in office.

"We're better together"...riiight.
So the most valued employees AREN'T better together in the office w/others???

Mgt needs to shut their CRE kickback-loving, hypocritical mouths. No one is buying your BS!

WF will fall by the wayside like all other dinosaurs who don't get creative w/CRE and pivot. Bunch of overpaid, entitled påråsites knowing they'll be long gone when RTO becomes permanently popular and knowing they had NOTHING to do w/the solution. F them!

Just tell your manager your busy organizing BLM hate groups at the company and in your city. Giving lessons at local schools on how best to ki-l wh---y takes. Tell your manager if he messes with you he will have a emotional low iq rage mob go after him, and Charlie fearing for his safety will approve and show pictures.

It's because the RTO thing is not about collaboration or working better together. It's about CRE and some managers worried people will notice they are not needed. So when certain teams are seeing a mass exodus out of Wells they get special treatment because the job still needs to be done. I'm sure you will see these same teams forced to RTO as soon as they are caught up with whatever backlog they have (looking at you remediation teams for one).

It obviously blows up the false "we're better together" narrative when your (alleged) critical teams don't have to RTO.

That said, I don't know what value it brings to other specific roles. All I know for sure is that it's a complete waste of time for mine. Driving to a building to collaborate with no one is madness.
