Sounds like more layoffs in the US and more offshoring, you know, the investors have to keep making massive amounts of profits to afford the lifestyles they live in. So get back to work
It’s much better now for H1B to stay in their own country.
This level of stress does t make sense.
100K = 33K/year, not much, companies/employees can easily pay it!
...and only till 2026
Only one time for new applicantes
@hp isn't it 100k/year?
They will die a slow death of attrition.
@ak
thank god, stop consuming US resources
This program is supposed to exist for kids a where not only no American is available, but also no American can be trained.
For jobs paying $5+ million, like OpenAI or Meta, $100K is a drop in the bucket.
But, for a $50-100K job, there’s no need for foreign hiring. Any American undergrad STEM major can be trained to do these jobs in 1-3 months.
If it is a truly special skill set, $100K is nothing.
It's a one time fee for new applicants only. Read yesterdays clarifications from WH.
Us is dead
Companies will bring people on L1 visas. I think even l1A is abused a lot. No salary cap and no limit on number of visas issued. F1 students are impacted along with h1 employees
Qualcomm is not going to pay 100k for anyone who is on H1B. Your role will be transferred to either India or China. India is cheaper so very likely more jobs in India. If you're Indian then you will be given option to work from one of the site in India. Trump is helping all companies to trigger mass layoffs. It's not limited to Qualcomm anymore.
Indians and in general H1B need to start packing. If you go back for vacation you will not be allowed back in without depisiting $100k or your employer doing that. Go read the proclamation if you do not believe me. It is over in the USA if you are an H1B. Companies will never pay that for an average or below average employee.
Perfect chance, Q will close doors in the US and move what is left to India!
1000$ per imported line of code sounds fair.
That will end with tarrifs on outsourced coding and labor. That's next. Don't get too comfy.
Just means even more jobs in overseas design centers, less here.
