@eq At "Salesforce, promotions and bonuses often don’t come from engineering excellence, but from how well you flatter your boss…. Like literally licking the ding ding of your boss!"

This couldn't be more true... You need look no further than the team responsible for selling the dream of a career at Salesforce to find the most toxic, "what have you done for me lately", mean girl energy....

The full list of people is staggering. Engineering, accessibility, and especially tech support have all been gutted. There was no official notice prior to the podcast. Many are being advised to not reach out to those affected. No word on whether the usually generous severance packages will be offered as they have in the past. Some of those terminated lost access to trailhead and Org62, so they can't transfer the ownership of their credentials. It was shoddily and cruelly done, and paves the way for worse in the future. The smugness of the earnings call (which for the first time was audio only) made it worse. It's clear that Benioff is just another billionaire despite his early humanitarian leanings. Very disheartening.

I work in the SF Tel Aviv office in the Alon Towers complex. I was sure they would cut our jobs because Iran fired a missile at us for unknown reasons and destroyed half the buildings and roads around us. Benioff is a true mensch for helping his family out.

@eq Bending the knee is accurate, but the rest of the post is off base. Team’s always have different levels of talent, but the technology is solid and the delivery is some of the best in the industry.

@f4 From what I have read in the press, yes. I am not an employee though so you should seek out more information from others.

I have a pending offer for a Customer Success Director position. Is this Customer Success org part of the 4K that have been impacted?

Thanks,

What’s striking about these layoffs is that so many of those let go were either not in the good books of leadership—or they were simply too good to tolerate the mediocrity at the top. Meanwhile, a few who remain on engineering teams, including some directors and PMTSs, can barely write a line of code.

At Salesforce, promotions and bonuses often don’t come from engineering excellence, but from how well you flatter your boss…. Like literally licking the ding ding of your boss!

The layoffs are sad, but maybe they’ll give people time to rethink and reshape their careers.

When you’re on an engineering team, you should be coding, designing meaningful architectures, or helping people grow. Unfortunately, most of the so-called leaders in these teams were never strong engineers to begin with. Some couldn’t even write a simple program.

A company that was once admired has turned into a shell of what it used to be.

Hundreds of support people and engineers laid off today with zero notice. Anxiety, despair, and anger prevail at Salesforce.

Benioff said: “This is the Salesforce Ohana Way to replace 4K jobs to AI”

When he was talking about “Ohana Way” as Hawaiian culture at Salesforce, where everyone cares one for another, everyone knew he was a D.ouche bag
