Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

A coworker up for a promotion was laid off

He was waiting to hear if his move up was approved and he ended up getting the news he was kicked out. I have no idea how that happen or how it was allowed to happen but it goes to show that none of us are truly safe.

We deserve it, but most ELT and Mark were Canadian. We did influence it but it was your own people here.

@g0 American greed at its finest. Think Mark is hurting financially after being let go.

@cc Going above and beyond is a one-way street. We all know this will lead to a massive wave of quiet quitting among those who survived. Why put in the extra hour for a customer when the person holding the axe doesn't even know your name?

The executives at this company have no idea what is really going on with the folks doing the work. I wonder if Ayman has been undercover for months in secret seeing how things really work here. If yes, he by now must know the company needs an entire overhaul if it’s going to be around in 2030 and beyond.

The selection is done by d-mb upper mgmt who does not know the employees. I know a hardworking guy working on Sunday unpaid helping his customers and we find out on Monday that he has been layoff.
People who ask for severance get missed out or the wrong person is layoff as their manager are not consulted for the selection. Other threads has mentioned a incubating deal in trouble due to a layoff prod mgr. This place is a mess thanks to mgmt that should have been replaced by an AI bot.

It’s about pay not performance. Executives see perfection in bots not employees so they think anyone is replaceable. If someone got a pay increase above average, they are a target vs being shielded from being laid off.

Yes, I was told by my manager that he suspected that actually expecting some form of advancement or growth (pay, position, etc.) with excellent performance raised your position on the layoff list.
