Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Compensation shock has truly set in.

We’re seeing a significant decline in leadership engagement, which is directly impacting our ability to meet deadlines and maintain client satisfaction. The current culture has led to widespread morale issues. No one cares anymore.

If you are truly debating this, the scenario in US is different from say India. Here, we are inventors, the one who possess the knowledge and not mere paper pushers and button pressers. Sorry to sound condescending, but that is, as you say it so eloquently, is why we could sp-t on your face and were able to say, take--a-hike.

The wind is shifting under RV reign of te---r. He, with his Brit mindset, is going back to the Raj days. But unfortunately, despite all the claim of the STEM and bookish knowledge and Google aided plagiarism, effective use of CtrlC CtrlV , the Indian teams are still not in the driver's seat, nor it will be. That is what RV is counting on. An army of former Raj workforce who are obedient and non-challenging.

AND the thinking, real thinking, not a copy-cat Indian pseudo-thinkers, is leaving the firm and has left the firm. And the remaining few, who either hanging on for a package or golden-parachute are no longer contributing and feel like @OP.

Custody banking, is a no-brainer. Agreed, it is process, process, process. But the efficiency and the delivery pipelines are well thought of and has AND is still putting the food-on-the-table for the executives and 45000 employees.

So far, despite 3.8B spent, the firm has not seen anything NEW, innovative. They are banking on third party tools.

So, do not feel good about RV spitting on the real knowledgeable and working population.

In my division I feel there are bosses, but not leaders. Does anyone or everyone feel the same?

Our Executive Committee views comp as a non-essential obligation. However, it's unrealistic to expect peak performance from a team that feels consistently undervalued. You can’t squeeze six refills' worth of effort out of a crew getting paid for three. You get the service you pay for. No wonder things are down the tube.
