Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Wrongful dismissal?

From a Google search :

Wrongful Termination: Companies cannot lay off an employee in a specific position and immediately hire a new person to fill that exact same role domestically without risking a wrongful termination lawsuit. However, replacing the position with an offshore role is generally considered a valid business decision.

Would this qualify for anyone who holds a position that will remain and then gets "kicked out" by another person? Would this qualify as grounds for wrongful dismmisal as the company didn't actually downsize or move out that role?

Jobs were getting offshored for over two decades, you are complaining, because only now this phenomena is beginning to affect you.Now it is your turn and it has nothing to do with mark carney, it has to do with economics and allocation of capital and just like Harper or any of Alberta conservative Premieres didn't do anything to prevent job losses because they were in alignment with the oil producers who were gradually outsourcing the jobs and then they are sourcing contractors were offshoring, Carney cannot do anything for you either.
The oil sector doesn't really create a huge number of jobs anyways and that employment has gradually been dropping for the last decade compared to many other industries.
So it has limited populist support, and hence limited interest at the governmental level.

Given time as processes get refined, the price of BTC will drop. EM does not really care about pockets of employment in canada, which is small compared to the global picture. They can easily move a very large chunk of jobs to btc and make overall operational cost reductions across the globe through scale so this is much bigger than canada. With btc su-king up jobs from across the globe, it creates a concentrated center of know how that keeps on growing and skills keep on increasing and prices gradually drop, thereby benefiting EM in the long run through mass manufacturing style of operation to drive down costs.

@dp likely in limited cases, it'll be hard to bump an incumbent out of their role unless they really su-k at it.

To OP we have at will employment. So long as they give you severance they can get rid of you for any reason (so long as it's not based a protected trait like race or religion)

The crazy thing is that the data suggests it's not even cheaper to use BTC resources.

Next Time Mark Carney is talking about a billion dollar trade deal with India, THIS is what he is talking about. Offshoring your jobs.
"Brookfield Up"... Oops. I mean "Elbows Up"

The whole performance ranking and NSIed/ PIP are an example of the methodical process to remove individuals for a variety of reasons and replacing them with a systematic process of documenting (real or fake events) to remove an individual.
