Can somebody please tell me where these rumors about more layoffs are coming from? Are they about other areas, or is this US related? I honestly don’t know how much longer I can take this. I’m a complete nervous wreck.

Sure.

@mx I hope that now people are getting more and more conscious and know that mental health condition is very important and O is not worthy to destroy it - if you feel sick, just go on the sick leave to recover and start planning plan B.
I wonder how many folks are taking sick leave due to layoff stress.
@kv Not full benefits. Just EAP for three months. It’s mentioned on the separation document.

At this point I wouldn’t mind the layoff. My performance plummets when this kind of direct and passive attrition happens. I was a strong performer, now I don’t feel motivated to do anything beyond my basic job functions. I considered a LoA to figure out next steps. Layoff would be better.
@cq where do you see this? so they give 3 months insurance after being laid off? My understanding is benefits stop the same day as termination day
@gd So sorry for you. There will be something better for you. Which group/org/location?
@ce THIS! I got laid off RIGHT after I returned from a LOA due to mental health - and now this?! Seriously? 20 years with never having to take time, and now this. Awesome
@ce Unfortunately your former employer no longer cares as you are now outside of their organisation and legal obligations.
@ce For recently laid off employees, Oracle provides 3 months of EAP (which covers up to 10 visits)
@c2 how are you supposed to get help from mental health professionals if you now have no job which means no health insurance in the USA.
👮♀Uncertainty like this can be very stressful. Make sure to take care of yourself and don't hesitate to seek support from mental health professionals when needed. Stay hopeful and focus on getting through one day at a time
@br Ironically this is the only way they can see return on the AI investment and tell customers "look at us, it works!"
Pretty much like medical researchers infecting themselves with a disease to prove their cure when works. They are pretty much burning the house frame to keep the fire alive and will only stop when the house implodes or the researcher dies.
@bp exactly, they are too foolish with no assertiveness to say NO to their higher manager and that's how this large pyramide of trembling with fear mngrs works. And the highest price pay for it the employees, so eat the rich, who cares...
Can you say "distopian hellscape"?
I knew you could!
Oracle upper management have convinced themselves they can replace human employees with AI so for every new AI tool being deployed a corresponding number of employees will be laid off so they can prove themselves it’s working. And nobody objects as they don’t want to be put on the layoff list.
Was laid off last week and told this week from a colleague who wasn’t, there was a very brief call that just said “more changes are coming”. So yea, don’t think they are over. And even if they were for this month, or even this quarter, they’re going to continue. Can also confirm we had this same call back in May…and well, yea.
I hope people really did fill out that Voice survey honestly but professionally. It’s okay to let them know how cr-ppy it is what’s going on with all the “re-orgs”. I get it, might not make a difference but hearing how terrible things are maybe once day they’ll get their ish together
Keep checking your calendar for a 15 minute 1:1 "Important Business Update" with your manager. That's how it's being done this time. You'll get the request less than 24 hours in advance. RIFs have been happening on Tuesday mornings.
@OP There's nothing you can do to influence any layoff decisions so try not to worry too much.
Instead concentrate on building your skills, network for potential opportunities and get your finances in order so that a layoff isn't an immediate instant catastrophe.
They're talking about it on reddit, in r/employeesOfOracle/ for one.
I saw that they're working on EMEA now.
Can you tell us where you are seeing the rumors?
