Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Morale At An All-Time Low!

I wake up at 2 AM shaking and sweating, dreading the day ahead! The two days WFH are a blessing compared to dragging my ar-e in for that two-hour commute to He-l Town. And that damn Teams! Every morning, that red dot! What's wrong now?

@OP

HCSC gave me SO many sleepless nights. Partly because I was on call every night from day one until about day 600. But even when that subsided, the work life balance was just terrible. I had a 3+ hour commute 3-4 days a week and still have to spend weekend time deploying the single line of code the team made for the sprint.

I loved the HCSC folks, but the IT dept is so damn far behind. And damn, even with the bonuses their pay can’t match much of anybody. Even the health insurance, ironically, wasn’t even very good when I was there.

Hope you follow @b0 advice and utilize the resources you can until you make a change. It ain’t worth it, and there are so many better jobs out there.

"Morale At An All-Time Low"

Clearly you weren't around in early 2020.

Such theatrics. Such nonsense.

To @gb/Leave My Friend: The poster of this thread, "Morale At An All-Time Low!," does NOT need your cold-hearted, harsh criticism. Above all be kind. Thelayoff.com should be a safe place to express thoughts, concerns, emotions, etc. Each person is an individual who processes/manages life in the best way they know how at the time. No one knows another's experience without walking in their shoes. To paraphrase your own words, @gb/Leave My Friend, "Sounds like thelayoff.com/hcsc will be ok without you, and it seems you need to leave asap. I wonder why do you bother posting mean-spirited comments that are not helpful or supportive."

Sounds like HCSC will be ok without you and it seems you need to leave asap. I wonder why do you stay at a place that does that to your mind and soul.

I agree with the last person, you have the right to find a job elsewhere that you like. Don't stay in a place that takes that kind of toll on you. We all have the right to leave and find jobs that work better for us, if we need to.

This su-ks. I am sure you are not alone. But if it is this bad, you need to get out any way you can. Until you can do that, take advantage of all the no cost resources for behavioral health that the company gives us. But also do a little job search every day. Maybe give yourself time off on the weekends. But apply for one job every day. Get yourself out there. Your mental health is way more important than any job in any city in any industry. You have one life, and it sounds like you need to make a change right away. The business is not going to become what we would all want it to be.
