Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

May first week layoff confirmed

Confirmed by a senior leader.

It’s frustrating that they do not see how it’s impacting productivity of the entire workforce.

Reduce the workforce by 50% and let the other 50% do their job in peace. Right now , no one is doing their full potential because it’s always layoff axe on their necks.

Heard from mgmt, end of May is next wave of layoffs. It is not across the board, but there will be RIF. No way to confirm, as this is not something even management could confirm beyond this. I m in GNT.

It will be all groups, no one is safe. They will cut you and treat you like sh-t after either no communication only severance info as they all go to lunch together. Work from home that day so you don’t have to be in the office.

@dt I saw your post. 30 years and official notice of layoff May 7th. What channel are you in?

@fy

I'm in a corporate group.

To the person who said it's a fake post, what's wrong with you? A shame you weren't there last night to hear me tell my family.

I sure hope not. I make an outstanding salary but have absolutely zero skills. I don’t really want to flip burgers for a living.

@dt Sorry to hear. I was let go in November after 30+ years and we’re not the only ones they let go with that amount of time in.

I'm the person who got notice. No paperwork yet, but I see the Severance program is on the web (dated 2022 I think?) So I assume I will get that - standard, unchanged. Advance notice not uncommon in some jobs.

@dt So did your boss give you a heads up before the official notice? My direct manager has been acting strangely the last week or two, so I’m wondering if she knows her team is impacted already.

Not across the board. SVPs have the discretion to choose how they hit their budget targets — whether by cutting SOW, reducing other expenses, or trimming headcount. There are many ways to lower costs (for example, contractors) or reduce staff (re-badging, or divesting business units that no longer make sense). So this will vary significantly between groups. Anyone saying “15% across the board” is assuming their SVP’s approach applies to everyone — and it doesn’t.

@ag so the RIF will cut anyone whose pay dates don’t align with May 7th. Hope this helps.

B2B mid markets are getting wrecked with the new comp plans, and new "leaders" with zero vision or direction. I don't wish for anyone to lose their job in a RIF, other than myself. 22yr and zero desire to hit 23. The glory days are long in the rearview, and there is nothing but darkness ahead.

Keep in mind that these same people that have been saying confirmed RIF’s since January. Still waiting. People should take this with a grain of salt. Also realize not to stress over things you have no control over.
