I thought this is annual event!? For past 20 years it happened just 20 times in July and more in other. month. Why are people still surprised?

If I had to make a prediction, Muhi will retire and Shannon will take over Engineering, Product Management, and Architecture in addition to Operations, Security, BN, and AI Engineering. That would effectively make her the all-encompassing ELT.
From there, it will likely be the same inner circle taking on even more responsibilities, creating an increasingly unmanageable structure. As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together.

@h2 this seems the better way to word it.

You can still be fired or laid off in EU countries, but the mandatory notice/severance time is a lot more expensive sometimes.

I wonder if the JP section has that with additional stigma though. I've heard Japan is kinda similar.

@c4 to the contrary, it's very easy to get rid of people in the UK, it just takes time.
it's also very easy to let people go in Germany, but it's not cheap.

We are MOT hiring and have NOT returned to growth

We have 200 open positions, that will never be filled. It's just an illusion because we are really letting a few thousand go!!!!

The market knows exactly how bad we are

July is only for sales layoffs

If there is anyone on the forum that has more detail about the upcoming redundancies, please share. Many of us will be laid off and have no prospect of landing another job because of our age and Open Text doesn't offer a generous redundancy package to soften the blow. But I expect any department that works alongside sales (lead generation, marketing, revenue/sales operations etc.) will all be impacted. So if you're over the age of 45, work alongside sales and are not based in a low cost country, please start thinking about the possibility of redundancy and what your options are if you are impacted in July.

@cw In a highly ironic twist, they’ve been terminated.

That's impossible. We've been assured over and over that we are hiring and returning to growth.

@bs I believe it is nothing but wishful thinking, at this point, to suggest this won’t be global.

As always, much will depend upon an individual or team’s location. It’s way easier to offload people in the US and UK than it is in France or Germany.

You are only safe if you are key (can’t easily be replaced) at delivering or selling a profitable product whose expense ratios fall under industry standards. Also, keep your head down and your mouth shut.

The valuations on the MF solutions have obviously dropped dramatically.

The reorganisation will reflect the massive haircut required to balance the books as assets have now turned into liabilities.

@b3 why do you think senior MGMT have signed NDAs? Managers up to and including senior directors have no idea what's coming , only VP upwards

I can’t believe how badly the execs and management have handled this reorganisation. Everyone knows that their job could be at risk. Put us all out of our misery and tell us what is happening!

Senior management have all signed NDAs, which is a sure sign that something big is happening. I joined OpenText to get some stability in my career. Less than two years later and I’m looking at being laid off……
