@sh I’ve been told it’s 12/16, at least for my department. I questioned the date since it’s a Tuesday, but they seem pretty confident.

AI - it costs millions and millions to produce and the energy required is also in the millions. Hence why all the mega billion data centers being built.

I’ve heard from a contact who is BFFs with a VP that the next one is Dec 16 or 18. Absolutely wrong to do that to people before Christmas. It feels like Russian roulette. Who’s gonna get it and who’s safe for now? It doesn’t matter how good you are. They will rif you without batting an eye. This takes away all motivation. Why bust your butt for them when they don’t care one bit? For those who survive to get a “bonus” I’m sure that will be pathetic. Jump for joy for your 1% raise! What a joke. Meanwhile the cost of healthcare is skyrocketing and the plans we get are all bad options unless you have no need for healthcare. Then it’s fine. Best advice my manager gave me is to beef up your resume, apply for jobs, and do just enough to stay under the radar.

@bn oh, yes I realize that we just laid off a ton of LVN’s! It’s every couple of Thursdays we’re having layoffs!

@e4 evaluating total cost of ownership has never been a real thing at UHG…part of why we wasted money on Big Data, commercialization, two different IT solutions for the same problem….

@cg well said! They haven’t begun to see the real costs associated with AI. The AI providers are not making profits at current prices (this is all over financial news)…. They will get their products/models embedded at companies such as Optum and then raise the prices. Oldest trick in the book.

Clinics closing, lots of Medicare Advantage business going away 12/31 as contracts were not renewed. Lean times coming.

The AI stuff seems to be getting slowed to a crawl too. Stagnation every where. Whenever that AI salesman leaves OI for his next job I think you will hear a lot less about it as the costs to implement to scale seem to be eye-watering,

What about field teams in OI?

What people don't realize is Optum has had incremental layoffs every couple weeks for the past few months, not just the large quarterly ones. You go to work on a project and poof your contact is gone...next month another one is gone.
