Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Please sue me

My LMFAO this am… CDW having a collections attorney making threat calls for $400 or so owed on an employee computer purchase… over two years after I was laid off. Money must be tight.

@jz
Different coworker here...I know instances of people quitting in the last 6 months and they never received any boxe(s) for sending back any tech like notebooks or voip phones. No exit interviews either....just an email about a cobra email and that's it.
Years of work or as they say, "service" and just an email from low level HR.
This ain't the same CDW from years ago. They do not care and are regressing in so many areas. All the added security they imposed with MS authenticator and SSO etc...and they have notebooks and phones just floating out there.

Sorry, did you buy a Notebook and then not fully pay for it?
CDW is far from perfect... but was your expectation they would let you keep it as a parting gift?

Have you received anything by mail or email about this or is it just collections calls? If they haven’t contacted you in writing, they have no intention of suing you. This is just bad debt collection efforts, likely from a third party they sold bad debt to for Pennie’s on the dollar…. I’m betting the collection agency even has a name that sounds like a law firm. Ignore it, but keep an eye on your credit report and dispute it if they try to report you negatively.

@fe End of '23/beginning of '24. The Profit Sharing that was placed into accounts was based on a formula that included projections for annual revenue. What it appears happened is that when it looked like executives wouldn't hit their targets, they instituted stock buyback programs in order to fund that billion dollars they were scrambling to pull funds from anywhere, and by stating they since projections weren't hit the profit sharing unds were reversed from coworkers Fidelity 401K accounts.

Check the statute of limitation in your state. It has likely run.

@f6 Were there clawbacks of CDWs 401k contributions?! Is that true and when was it if so. Hadn’t heard of clawbacks on our 401. If it happened, why wasn’t it communicated to all?

@ea The vacation policy change was ridiculous. It's a clear attempt to avoid having to pay out accrued vacation time when people leave, and we all know that the vast majority of us are actually taking far less because there is no coverage based on how thin most of us are spread. Coupled with the clawback of 401K contributions that had already been made and the extremely poor handling of layoffs, there is very little they can be said that is positive about our Executive Team.

Don't forget CDW had to settle antitrust lawsuits via US Govt and also settled another shady activity involving Cisco and Dexon.
Google CDW Lawsuits and you'll also see a new one filed in late 2025 for employment discrimination.
As a shareholder...there needs to be accountability as the stock price has dropped over 50% from peak in the last year or 2...to get back to previous high...it'll take a 100-150% gain but with the current leadership and its repeated mistakes...when or will that even happen.
In regards to OP's owed amount...they could've taken that amount out of thier final paycheck or write it off like they do on so many other things that are way more $$
Wasting time on getting $400 from an ex employee shows how upside things are currently.
Lemme go sell $4000 in profit to cover this dudes $400. What a joke.

You are going to work with the SEC to take the company down. Right. Just stop being a b-m and pay off your Asus laptop instead of talking out your rear end about filing all these lawsuits. Again, you’re talking emotionally and not logically at all. But you being completely delusional is great entertainment ngl.

@ea
Did comp and vaca requirements change for senior leadership (VP's and C level)...
Nickel and diming everyone beneath them that actually correlates to the billions in business between CDW and customers.
Publicly traded company right...you can see the insider trading and stock options awarded but they want to take % here and there from the actual workforce keeping the company going.
Employee purchase program on items that cost more than Newegg or Provantage or Amazon but you get it at 1% CDW margin and pretax payments from paychecks while C level Flys around wining and dining on everyone else's declining paychecks.
Keep eating the free pizza and coffee that they make partners pay for "my guy" 😂

You’re speaking emotionally and not logically. The company changing their 401K match and vacation day policies has nothing to do with you owing money for a computer that you purchased. You are talking out of your old man butt. Also a civil suit for $400 wouldn’t be a 12-person jury. You don’t have a pot to pi-s in, my guy.

@c2 Oh, I wish they would try to negatively impact my credit. I’d get a whole new cause of action. After they clawed back tens of thousands of dollars of profit sharing, stock, 401k match, and unused sick leave… yes, let’s railroad an older employee who had stellar performance reviews… over $400. Put 12 in the jury box and let’s go.

They won’t sue you but they will send you to collections and your credit will take a hit. However you’ll be able to negotiate the price down with collections. Happy haggling!

I’m guessing that like most of those laid off, you were in at least one protected class (age). You should hire a lawyer for sure. File one he-l of a counterclaim.
