does anyone know how many are left? seems like a thing of the past

@fb yep, contractor for 6 years. Always told im being converted then something happens.
I sympathize with onshore contractors. We used to be able to convert them to employees. Now it's just how soon can you move their work to DP pals offshore. At least we used to be able to keep jobs here even with onshore contractors. Watch and in 3 years or so Brian will realize the huge mistake. Huge.
@f4 who are you referring to when you say you will lose your job to “these guys”. There are onshore and offshore contractors. The onshore contractors have been doing the same work as FTE and not getting PTO or health benefits, no bonuses and less pay. At least the offshore have universal healthcare and can afford to work with less pay. You don’t realize how good you have had it.
@dd somehow im at peace wirh the face that I will end up losing my job to these guys. Just like amazon, fedex, microsoft, I will watch from afar as the places just burn to the ground.
Here's the back story. And why the contractor count is odd. Our vendors told us this. When cigna set up India under Noelle she committed to.hire 500 people in the center. The biggedt vendor told us She got about 50 done and was really embarrassed. No.one knew cigna and no locals wanted to work there. They wanted cognizant or wiprp or TCS. All names that they knew.
So she went to our vendors and mandated they rebadge a ton of people to just get bodies in seats. Purchasing at cigns forced them to do it and the vendors were not happy. So now the same contractors sit in.our center.
The quality coming out of them is a tu-d. DP not telling anyone but we all see the sh@t code. It will end up costing more because of all the rework. It will only be found out because the cost to do the code will end up being more even with cheap labor. That crowd over there is unmanaged. The guy Noelle had managing it was tossed out. It's a mess and DP is celebrating a fantasy. Everyone in IT knows this.
So.the contractor count would in our past included all those India heads.
