Hybrid and remote working

New global Hybrid and Remote Working Policy took effect from 6 March. Can someone please confirm how attendance is being monitored eg how long the monitoring window is and what data is used.

I think I speak for the vast majority of us, at least in middle management, when I say that remote and hybrid working has been a dismal failure and should be eliminated now. Productivity tanked during this failed experiment.

@xz they used to have that; it was a big thick white card that went behind your badge. That was transitioned away last year.

I’ve heard that at westlake they also have rfid in your id badge that tracks where people are on campus. I don’t know what they would use that information for though.

@am well....tracking is done through the access cards in the UK. However there are no names. P&C will tell a VP: your team is doing 2.9 or 2.1 etc

@g3 its more than that, its actually a combination of three things.
Your computer connectivity through company WiFi.
Your badging in / out of the main turnstile.
Desk utilization while in office.

If you work in WL1, while you are sitting at your desk, look up and you will see what looks like a smoke detector, with a black dot about the size of a nickel, that is actually a video camera. They do not have the ability to zoom in and out; but what it does, it gives an overview of how the desk space is being utilized in that area.
That report is shared with Managers that constantly complain about not having enough “work space” for their team. They will assess the area and then find an area being under utilized and move them to that area.

Tracking is clearly through badging records and not WI-FI !!, Line Managers have been receiving detailed reports for a while

@fb People are downvoting this, but what you describe truly is what leadership expects. I’m not saying it’s good, or right, but it’s true.

The new expectation is that for the kind of money we pay you, you better work 7 days and at least 3 nights a week. If you work like Elons worker bees, you will make the top 10%. 40 hours work weeks will get you in the bottom 10% and eventually fired. 60 hours per week will be the majority of the met expectations. If you don’t understand the diplomacy of a UK based company, you have business working here!

In Houston, people have been saying it's monitored via wifi network.

@c0 it's been 60/40 for fu--ing ages, but somehow people are still taking the pi-s so they've had to threaten people that it now forms part of your performance rating if you don't turn up enough.

I wasn’t aware of a new policy. Thought it’s still 60/40?

Wait, what’s the new policy? I have been working in-office for three days a week since we came back from Covid. Is that still the expectation?

Would be interested to know how tracking is being done in US & UK (due to GDPR rules around it)
