Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Burned out and done pretending this makes sense

I’m exhausted. The commute, the cost, five days in a seat for work that still happens on a laptop and on calls with people who aren’t even here.

Let’s stop pretending this is improving anything. It’s not driving better results, it’s just draining people. Then leadership turns around and wonders why effort drops.

People aren’t checking out for no reason. They’re burned out from a system that makes zero sense.

This isn’t better for employees, and it’s not better for the company.

Roll it back to hybrid and start measuring output instead of presence.

I work from 6 to 2 so you probably won’t see me on the commute.

The fact that a fu--ing telecom company deems it necessary for people to move all over the country for work when the entire stated purpose of the company is to connect people from anywhere is beyond insane.

@rx Nope. I'll continue to waste time and resources while collecting full paychecks, and if it makes you all cranky - that's just an added benefit.

"Keep on crying like a baby about RTO.
Whelp, see you on the commute!"

That was an amazing commute. Took me an hour. Circled the parking garage about a dozen times. Spent 10 minutes trying to find a desk. Started collaborating like crazy. Virtually of course since every meeting is a Teams meeting. Love it.

Whelp, see you on a Teams call!

The only sad dweebs here are the ones crying about RTO.

Boo hoo hoo....Stank is a big meanie because he actually makes me work and go to the office now. I don't wanna work at the office!

Be an adult and do your job. You're lucky to still have a job at AT&T in a company full of constant surplus and layoffs.

Welcome back to the real world, loser.

@g4 lol...sure pal.

Keep dreaming of the beach while your chump a-s is in the office 5x8 and complaining on here nonstop. Lol.

Boo hoo hoo...work in office is hard. The only thing I'm tossing is your wifes pa-ties aside while you're in the office, chump.

Now be a good employee for the honorable Mr. Stank and maintain your office presence for the report.

Whelp, see you on the commute!

Being required to be online for at least 40 hours a week is tiring for many since it is such a higher value than what was being put in when telecommuting full time. The transition was always going to be difficult.

Typical ATT Stank psychophant employee -- making up sh-t about a complaint to make themselves look better. GFY as I will continue working from the beach while you bury your nose up Stank's backside.

Boo hoo hoo....I don't wanna work!

Go get yourself a WFH gig somewhere else. Oh wait. You can't...

You're either too stupid or too d-mb. And you certainly don't have the skills or integrity to maintain WFH status.

RTO is industry standard. Sorry fellas!

Whelp, imma enjoy my weekend. See you on the Monday morning commute!

@cz Nope you won’t “see” me anywhere. I'll RTO while I continue to go out of my way to waste time and resources while collecting full paychecks, and if it makes you cranky - that's an added benefit. You’ll have to pay me my severance to get rid of me. Until then I’ll continue to watch Netflix on my iPad and chill

@c5 little man is triggered, huh. Guess what. Over 80% of companies operate in a fully WFH or Hybrid model. That is the standard. 5 day RTO is a corner case, and now companies are actually moving away from 5 days back into Hybrid or WFH to save cost. You’re a CWA block head buffoon so just shut up and stick to talking on topics you know about, like watching the new guy dig your holes.

Go apply at Verizon. Their new CEO is backing off RTO. A buddy in their Network Engineering group said VZ is closing their Richardson, TX office and moving everyone to full time WFH. So, there are some leaders who see the value of Hybrid and/or WFH. T doesn’t care about the optics or frustration. They know it’s an employers job market right now and as such, they’ll keep making these demands and if the net result is employee loss, all the better. Can’t take it personally, everyone is a number with an associated cost.

“ Overall, RTO is industry standard.“

1000% incorrect across the board.

Structured hybrid is the still the norm for management across all industries, including this one, where our main competitors still have it in place.

WFH is pretty dead across the board, dude. Sorry. It's over.

Sure, some folks at companies that didn't completely abuse WFH might still have the luxury of hybrid.

Overall, RTO is industry standard.

Yall think companies are stupid and didn't see the rampant abuses of WFH and feel the impact it had on teams across the company? Yall really thought that gravy train would be permanent?

Lol....you crybabies are hilarious. No wonder you're still stuck at AT&T and couldn't get a cushy WFH gig anywhere else.

Whelp, see you on the commute!

Office presence five days a week, eight hours a day should only be for people who have rules that are limited to office work five days a week, eight hours a day.

I’m the only one on my team in Atlanta. We have 0 people in Dallas. Nobody is co located. I’m coding, why the heck do I need to be in an office? We were remote long before Covid, this makes no sense. That’s my biggest issue with it. If it made any sense, yeah fine, but it makes none.

Except this isn't normal. I've shared all that's happening here with my friends and family here in Dallas, and nobody thinks this is normal. The degree of what we're doing is not happening at any other companies. We have become the worst job destination in the market because everyone hears we're acting like it's the 1980s. They also all laugh at us - "but you deliver the internet and mobile service so people aren't tethered to an office." Whelp, connecting changes everything!

The company that provides the ability to “stay connected” and enables people to work from anywhere tells its own employees they can’t even do that. If we don’t buy into our own product then why would anyone else?? These “leaders” are some of the d-mbest on the plant.
