Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Doing the RTO thang

How many in here moved to Dallas and what decision led you and your families to do so? My family is going through a forced relocation. We are choosing to move to keep the job, for some social life and probably better opportunities for jobs.

I know many people personally who this happened to. After moving they changed our VP and it was downhill after that. Great culture to a terrible one. My boss was so miserable under the new leadership that she took a different job to get away.
Dallas Culture: Game of Thrones and Hunger Games combined. I wish those who move the best. Only advice I have is watch out for leadership changes and look to move even if it is a lateral to avoid toxic leaders.

"Funny that no one has ever known an actual employee this happened to."

Actually, I know 3, including one who had stomach cancer and asked for a deferment for medical reasons, but was denied. So, GFY.

Look at you pay zone vs new zone and cost of living where you are looking to move.

@a1 I have not known anybody, but have been hearing many got surplussed a few months after moving to Dallas. Didn't that kind of fear stop you from moving?

We moved to Dallas two years ago for start of the 2024 school year. Family was supportive and understood it was reallly my only option for continued employment given the number of years I had stayed at AT&T. It wasn’t a difficult decision. Life in Dallas has worked out well for everyone.
