Is it an email notice sent the day of 1/29? Is it a scheduled meeting? If so, how far in advance do your receive the meeting invite and what is the subject title? Who is on the call? HR? Your manager? How have folks been notified in the past?

Layoffs aren't on 1/29...just notification. From what I have heard, ALL departments must cut 20% of their team. Not sure of when people will be advised, but in my experience being part of RIF, they usually happen on Thursdays in the AM.
WTH .. share the list of names !
@ep well please anonymously share the list!
@a3 that’s actually good advice. Unfortunately we can only control what we can control. This company is trash though on hood
@m1 my personal opinion is that the company knows some leaders will be laid off and instead of having leaders that aren’t familiar with your work do your review, they’re having leaders do reviews ahead of time so you’re getting a review from your actual manager versus someone stepping into the role.
@m9 there are some that I wish we could vote out. A 360 hasn’t been given on any of the leaders within our team in years, and they treat people horribly. We just rolled up under HC’s org, so I am hoping that he can immediately recognize what a disaster this team is because of the poor leadership.
@am paranoid, but yes, these year-ends are normal. My manager said she did not know about layoffs and I believe that is possible. We have had some positions go unfilled and a couple of VRPs so maybe our little department will be spared? I'm heartbroken for the possibility that anyone loses a job in this economy 💔
@m7 How about Band 5s? Do any know ahead of time? Some very smug ones here think they are safe.
Some band 6 employees have been notified today.
Why are performance reviews and layoffs being done this week at the same time? This is stressful.
My understanding is that the meeting is between you and your manager. HR no longer attends calls for JE's.
@kk the layoff is tomorrow right? Wht reviews in for Friday?
@ax and they wonder why the morale is so low and culture is so horrible. Nothing like worrying nonstop in a horrible economy!
@ap Not necessarily, all managers have to have the manager review submitted in Workday for their directs by end of day Friday.
Does anyone know which departments are being affected tomorrow?
Tomorrow is going to be adverse !
@em were you not on the december town hall where BE and DC literally said we are making large cuts? They never made those statements in the past.
@ev Only problem is, we’re the mole.
@eq This is what I mean. It's like whackamole
The true layoff is going to be 2/19 or 2/26.
@em Because I’ve seen the list of names of people who will be eliminated in our org. This is not a drill.
@cr I am not disputing you, but there were predictions like that in the Fall and the layoffs were small in comparison to some other times. How are you so sure?
@bf There will 100% be layoffs on January 29 and they will be big. I have no idea why you don’t understand this.
It's sixty days for the warn period for the 1/29 layoffs, not 30 like previously noted in a comment. Notices are in the AM (have to be completed by 1PM CST) and the # is so high HR is only invited to calls that leadership has deemed to be a risk for the manager to handle on their own (ie emotional response). This is the first of multiple rounds, the next one is rumored to he February 19.
I dont think we have layoff’s on 29th.
@b2 I believe you lose all unused PTO when you are laid off by Cigna. Wasn’t that a change in policy last year?
JE's cannot use performance as an excuse. They cannot discuss your performance.
The meeting invite for your JE comes out between 5-7 am the morning of unless you have a previous meeting on the calendar for the morning. HR likes JE's to be complete by Noon. Every meeting is different but can be just your manager, your manager and Director or may also include HR depending on the group. There is stock verbiage that they have to use - "The purpose of this mtg is to share an important organizational update with you and how it impacts out department and your role. Following the meeting, you can take the rest of the day off with no impact to your PTO balance." Everything is scripted and they have to read what's provided by HR for legal reasons. You'll get 30 days paid to review the agreement and your last day will be about 30 days from when you are notified, then severance will take place. Once notified, you will not go back to work as your access will be disabled that evening.
@ap wondering the same thing
Cigna utilizes the cheapest form of communication regarding employee layoffs.
The only way you'll know is when you get that meeting invite on Thursday morning. Before I got riffed, I had received a stellar year end review and almost 100% bonus. It's purely a numbers game. Take your severance and buckle up.
I like how ever month we all have to worry about a lay off now
Word will arrive via Pigeon courier late in the day on the eve of talks.
@am Year end reviews always happen by the end of January. I believe you’re thinking of the compensation discussion- where you find out your merit increase and bonus, if you’re eligible. Those happen in March.
my year end review is on 1/29. Is this also a hint for me for JE?
@am no, you should have your year end review. The compensation conversation will transpire in March.
Looking for manager insight: I have a year-end review today. Normally those don't happen until March. Is this a clue I'll be JE'd? I will update in replies after my meeting. And yes, I've updated resume and have other opportunities in the hopper, just looking for insight. You cannot turn off anxiety.
Hr and mgr will be on the call. I believe when I was JE the invite was a day or two before the meeting. I don’t recall if the meeting had a name or subject listed. If you do or don’t get JE, you should still start updating your resume and start looking at other jobs. It’s still good to keep an eye on the job market for better things either way.
@OP J was JE in Oct 24. I received a meeting invite that was sent out at 6ish am for a meeting around 10 with the subject something like “Org Changes”. I was hired back in Jan of 25 only to possibly be in this mess yet again!
@OP please help yourself, stop worrying too much. It is what it is. If you really want to do something to calm yourself down, you can update your resume, prepare yourself for job interviews questions just in case you’re unfortunately on the list
