The hybrid model was amazing. Assigned or unassigned offices the hybrid was still better. There is no logical reason to go more days than 3 per week. I find the change to be very disappointing. My days at home were days to get things done and I didn’t dread getting up before 5 am to go into the office. I could get up at 7 and go right into the office. Back to the dread on Sundays again. Ugggh!

@v0 agree 100%. Also, many of us office people did our time in the field and working for service companies. There are a lot of field employees that get paid way better than I ever was and probably still are being paid more than me. Another advantage for the field folks I know is when you are off work, you are really off…No calls from all over the world at various hours at night and over weekends while still being expected to show up in the office at normal time for the normal day in an unassigned work space. I get that field folks are away from their families and that is tough. I do it to get paid. I really liked the hybrid. It gave me quiet days to focus and days at the office for face time. I don’t like that it is gone and the whole unassigned flex seating garbage these execs bought into. I will do my job but it isn’t all roses. I think field and office employees alike can find common ground on that. We can all be a little miserable together.
Hybrid was a great system.
Did I get a few personal errands done? Yes. But I also worked outside of rostered hours to connect with global colleagues during their core hours.
It gave me flexibility to manage work and personal life. I feel like it was a net benefit to Chevvy and me. Having Monday where I could hit work uninterrupted was good for me.
I was amused on Monday how everyone spent 2 hours updating each other about the weekend. And now people stop at my desk 10x a day interrupting my work flow.
I thought hybrid offered a really positive balance. Glad to have worked it while it was available.

The line from exec leadership "If i can be done at home, it can be done in India" goes both ways. How do you rebuild a good "culture" in the office if leadership is splitting the workforce across oceans to lower OPEX?

Hybrid was great, there should be no argument. Don't understand the downvotes. We could stay home most of the time and didn't have to work much at all. I got so much more done than I could ever have on all of my home projects and responsibilities. I could do laundry, dishes, cooking, watch the kids, work out, work on my home distribution of hand-made items, can't name the site, but I got a big boost during hybrid. I will miss hybrid dearly. Well, I may have to spend a little more on gas, but I won't have all these pajamas and workout clothes to wash, so that's a plus! I can't believe they are making us show up and actually work. I so hate this job now!

What I love the most about hybrid is that when I was home I was able to get my startup side-hustle going, instead of doing nothing like most people. So now I am set and that brings income so now I can so-called "work" here, there, it makes no difference. Thanks, CVX and the hybrid schedule, I have my own business!

I can only imagine that there are some CVX group is down voting the comments that celebrate the hybrid schedule. No one (not in executive management) that you talk to is against the hybrid schedule, so I greatly question the voting going on within this thread. I guess CVX doesn't want the natives getting restless, so they are trying to flip the votes. That is the only real explanation.
Return to office is a company rule and i will comply but something the ELT don’t realize is we have a global workforce. If I need to work early in the morning or late at night I cannot work from the office.
So I conclude the people in other countries that are not working in the office 4 days a week can work at night to fit the schedule in the USA.

Many of us are finding that other companies still have a hybrid schedule even if it is not advertised in the job postings. Start interviewing and you’ll find the flexibility we want in an employer. You’ll also find companies who want to invest in a future with their employees. Chevron does not care about your happiness and job satisfaction. They are only driving costs. Look at the metrics we are going after. Nothing about retention or career development. Now look at metrics for other companies. Why invest your time in a company that doesn’t care about you?

@a7 I’m actively searching for a position with less pay because work DOES get done out of office. I do far less work on an in-office schedule because I have to commute, get to the office to take meetings on a computer and deal with constant interruptions that are not necessary and then commute home having gotten 40% less tasks done than I do in my home office. You advocates for in office work are wack. I’d rather make less money and work remotely than make what I make at chevron and be miserable.
Hybrid was the only real improvement Chevron offered its workers since the 9/80 schedule was adopted. Unsurprisingly, it took a multi-year plague for it to happen. Of course the psychopaths in the C-suite resented it from the beginning and decided to leverage a poor job market and India as a means of devaluing the lives of workers when the opportunity appeared. Odd how brown-nosed individuals cheer for the worsening of their own lives, but that's how MW and his ilk get their kicks. Sc-m.

@a7 how exactly is hybrid not working? Your comment about work being done in the office is an outdated mentality. People will fight for a job whether it is in the office or hybrid if they need one. They would probably fight harder for the hybrid. Doing things the same way just because that was how it was always done does not make it right. That is not innovative or disruptive. Following the crowd is not innovative. Just because Exxon, Bp, shell etc are doing it does not make it the right way to do things. The innovative disruptor figures out a new path…a way to draw talent and keep it instead of following the same old worn out path that is taken by everyone else. Problem is the executives see a safe path to getting paid and that is the path they take. It is maddening frankly.

@a4 praising a hybrid schedule has nothing to do with being happy to have a job. It does have a lot to do with being happy at your job. What are you? Cvx Hr? I recall being in management when they used to say that money (a raise) wasn’t a motivator. Right money doesn’t motivate anyone, right? Not getting Monet can sure demoralize and demotivate, right? People will go to work. When times change they will jump as soon as possible if the situation stinks. That isn’t the motivation you want in your people. It sure doesn’t motivate the best and brightest.
Just work if you need a job. Many people are out of work looking for it

Office jobs are 9-5 M-F for over a century. Please comply. Work is for collaboration and winning. We been commuting and deal with family, gas prices, and parking. No whining snowflake.
